Garena is turning the Free Fire Nusantara Series (FFNS) 2026 Fall Grand Finals in Yogyakarta into something larger than a championship match. The event is being paired with Pesta 9 Free Fire, creating a public festival format that blends esports, community activities, and local entertainment.
The Grand Finals are scheduled for Saturday, 11 July 2026, at Grha Sabha Pramana, Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta. For Free Fire fans, the event carries two major stakes: a national title and a pathway to the Free Fire World Series Southeast Asia (FFWS SEA) 2026 Fall.
A First for Yogyakarta
Garena Free Fire Indonesia Game Producer Christiandy Franciscus said Yogyakarta is a special host city because it is the first time the FFNS Grand Finals have been held there. He linked the occasion to Free Fire’s ninth year in Indonesia, describing the moment as both a competition and a celebration of the game’s wider ecosystem.
Yogyakarta becomes the sixth city to stage the FFNS Grand Finals, following Surabaya, Bandung, Medan, Makassar, and Palembang. The move reflects Garena’s effort to bring major esports events closer to communities in different regions.
The Final 12 and the Road to FFWS SEA
The final lineup consists of 12 teams, made up of nine teams from the Play-Ins and three of the best teams from FFNS 2026 Spring. They come from cities across Indonesia, including Klaten, Palu, Jambi, Jakarta, Depok, Banjarbaru, Manado, Bangka, Garut, and Makassar.

Among the competitors is Muhammad Ahnaf Ramadhan Kurnia, known as AHNAFEIEI, a local talent from Yogyakarta who plays for Borneo Hilang Arah. His presence adds a local storyline to the event and highlights the possibility for regional players to break through to the national stage.
Ahnaf’s path is notable not only for esports but also for academics. He has reportedly remained consistent in school, finishing in the top 10, making his run to the Grand Finals a rare example of balance between competitive gaming and education.
Festival Activities Beyond the Matches
Garena has also built a public-facing celebration around the tournament. Since 3 July, a Free Fire cabin installation has been open at Teras Malioboro with interactive activities for visitors ahead of the main event.
The peak celebration at Lapangan Pancasila, GSP UGM, will include rides, cosplay areas, Yogyakarta culinary offerings, and live music from Orkes Pensil Alis and Ndarboy Genk. The format places esports alongside local culture and entertainment rather than separating the competition from the crowd.
Christiandy said the concept is meant to make Free Fire more than a game. The idea is to turn it into a meeting point for the community through a mix of esports, entertainment, culture, and a people-centered festival atmosphere.
