Some Instagram users in Indonesia were unable to upload Stories on Sunday, July 19, 2026, even while their internet connections appeared to be working normally. Downdetector Indonesia recorded a peak of 355 reports at about 4:03 p.m. WIB.
The disruption did not affect every account in the same way. Some users could still open Instagram and use its features, while others repeatedly failed when trying to publish a Story.
Publishing problems led the complaints
Reports began rising at around 2:30 p.m. WIB, with posting and publishing issues becoming the most frequently reported category. Users also reported problems opening the application and connecting to its servers.

The uneven impact meant that the service could appear normal for one user but remain unavailable for another. This was particularly visible among people attempting to share updates through Instagram Stories.
Complaints spread on X as users described failed uploads despite having good network connections. Others said they had been unable to update their Stories since the issue began.
The outage was especially disruptive for users who rely on Stories to share weekend activities. The reported failures centered on publishing content rather than a complete loss of access for all users.
Other Meta platforms were also affected
The issue was reported beyond Instagram, with Facebook and Facebook Messenger also experiencing problems at roughly the same time. One user complaint on X indicated that Facebook had also been affected.
Downdetector Indonesia indicated that Facebook conditions in Indonesia had started to improve. Reports concerning the Instagram Outage, however, were still being submitted by some users.
The disruption was not limited to Indonesia. The Independent reported that thousands of users in several countries experienced problems across Meta services.
Instagram users in some regions reportedly had difficulty accessing their feeds and the application itself. Facebook users, meanwhile, more often reported issues with the desktop version of the service.
No explanation from Meta
Meta had not provided an explanation for the cause of the disruption. The company had also not said when the affected services would be fully restored for all users.
For now, the varied experience across accounts remains a defining feature of the incident. While some users can continue using Meta services normally, others are still encountering publishing failures on Instagram.
