JBL has introduced the Vienna, a speaker designed to do more than play music. Its 18.5-inch display can show song lyrics as tracks are playing, giving listeners a visual way to follow the music.
The display uses moving light and shadow effects that make the lyric text appear to float. This approach gives the JBL Vienna a role that differs from a conventional speaker.
A Display for Music, Photos, and Time
The 18.5-inch panel is covered by ultra-white tempered glass. JBL says the material offers high transparency to support the device’s visual presentation.
Users can select from nine background themes, ranging from calmer styles to more striking visuals. The screen can also run a personal photo slideshow while music is playing.
That feature allows holiday images or photos with friends and family to become part of a room’s display. The device also works as a digital clock with two time zones and a clock face that can be personalised with photos.
JBL has included 11 built-in meditation modes as another use for the display. These modes combine slowly moving visual animations with nature sounds such as rain and ocean waves.
2.1-Channel Audio Behind the Screen
Behind the large display, the JBL Vienna uses a 2.1-channel stereo audio system with peak output of up to 100 watts. Its hardware combines full-range drivers, racetrack bass drivers, and passive radiators for different parts of the sound range.

JBL says the combination is intended to deliver deep bass, clear vocals, and distinct treble. The system is also described as being able to present layered sound detail for jazz and classical music.
The audio configuration means the screen is not the only central element of the product. JBL is positioning the Vienna as an entertainment device that combines a digital display with stereo sound.
Wireless Connections and Market Availability
The speaker supports Bluetooth 5.4, USB-C, and AUX connectivity. It can also receive wireless screen mirroring from Android devices and iPhones.
Screen mirroring expands the display’s potential beyond its built-in lyric, photo, and clock functions. JBL has not detailed the user experience or any limitations of the mirroring feature.
JBL has introduced the Vienna in China first. According to information compiled by Kompas Tekno from Gizmochina, the company has not disclosed a price or a timetable for a global launch.
Availability outside China therefore remains subject to an official JBL announcement. For now, the JBL Vienna stands out through the combination of its large lyric display, visual functions, and 2.1-channel audio system.
