Modern Kitchens Reshape Refrigerator Choices, Large Capacity Now Must Stay Energy Efficient

The modern kitchen is reshaping what buyers expect from a refrigerator. Large capacity alone is no longer enough, because energy efficiency, a design that blends with the interior, and longer-lasting freshness now sit at the center of the decision.

That shift is pushing manufacturers to rethink how big refrigerators should look and perform in homes with increasingly limited kitchen space. The result is a wave of products that appear compact from the outside while still offering generous storage inside.

What today’s households are looking for

Kitchen appliance choices are now tied closely to family routines and lifestyle needs. Storing weekly food supplies, organizing ingredients neatly, and keeping the kitchen visually tidy have become priorities alongside cooling performance.

Jaka Pramana, Regional Manager of Changhong Meiling Electric Indonesia, said modern families want a balance at home. He explained that this balance includes large storage capacity, a refrigerator design that matches the kitchen interior, and strong cooling performance with low electricity use.

That expectation reflects a broader change in the market. Consumers no longer view a refrigerator as only a storage box for food, but as a household appliance that must support convenience, efficiency, and visual harmony in one package.

Three new product lines for a changing market

In response to that demand, PT Changhong Meiling Electric Indonesia introduced three new cooling lines in Surabaya at Shangri-La Hotel Surabaya. The launch presented Twin Ultra Series, Slim Lux Series, and a 900-liter freezer as part of the company’s latest push into the modern kitchen segment.

The brand grouped the lineup under the campaign “Go Big Go Fit, Cool More Save More.” The message is clear: bigger capacity does not have to mean higher power consumption or a bulky presence in the kitchen.

That positioning also shows how appliance makers are adapting to homes that need practical storage without sacrificing the look and feel of the kitchen. For many buyers, the challenge is finding products that fit both the room layout and the family’s daily needs.

Twin Ultra Series targets premium kitchens

Twin Ultra Series is built in a side-by-side format that gives kitchens a more premium appearance. The line is designed to reduce the escape of cold air when the door is opened, helping keep the internal temperature stable and easing the workload on the compressor.

Its capacity ranges from 500 liters to 575 liters, with a minimum running watt of around 50 watts. Changhong also equipped the series with Leco technology to help sterilize the air so the interior stays fresher and free from odors.

An airflow system supports even temperature distribution throughout the cabinet. Available variants include FSS710NIGB and FSS630NIGB with a glossy black glass door, FSS620NIB with a dark grey metal door, and the online-exclusive CSS700NIGW with a glossy white glass door.

Slim Lux Series offers a compact fit with large storage

For kitchens with tighter space, Slim Lux Series provides a slimmer profile while keeping the storage capacity high. The series is built to fit more seamlessly into modern cabinetry, yet it still offers up to 515 liters of capacity.

Energy efficiency remains a major part of the design, with a minimum running watt of around 50 watts. Space management is supported by Space Master and Care+ Space, which help users arrange groceries more efficiently.

The series also uses precision airflow to maintain stable temperatures across the cabinet. A scratch-resistant glass door adds both durability and aesthetic value, making the line suitable for homes that want a cleaner integrated look.

A 900-liter freezer for heavier storage needs

Beyond refrigerator lines, Changhong also introduced the FCF986DW chest freezer with a capacity of up to 900 liters. The company described it as the first chest freezer in its class to use inverter technology.

Even with its large volume, the model keeps power use efficient with a minimum running watt of around 70 watts. Fast-freezing helps food freeze more quickly to preserve nutrients, while airflow is used to distribute cold temperatures evenly across the storage space.

This model extends the company’s effort to address users who need substantial frozen storage without moving away from energy-conscious appliances. It also expands the available options for households managing larger food supplies.

After-sales support is part of the proposition

Alongside the hardware features, Changhong is also highlighting after-sales protection across the new lineup. Each product comes with a 5-year warranty for parts and labor, plus a 10-year warranty for the compressor.

Jaka said the warranty package is intended to give consumers greater peace of mind over the long term. It also reflects the company’s confidence in the products’ durability for extended use.

Twin Ultra Series, Slim Lux Series, and the 900L freezer are now available through Changhong’s authorized dealer network and retail partners across Indonesia. Orders can also be placed online through the company’s official store on e-commerce platforms, as the kitchen appliance market continues moving toward a combination of size, efficiency, and modern design.
