Samsung’s next major software update is shaping up to reach far more Galaxy devices than many users expected. The early list tied to One UI 8.5 does not stop at the newest flagship phones, as it also includes older models from the Galaxy S, Z, A, M, and F lines.
That wider reach is what makes the current watch list stand out. For many owners of older Galaxy devices, the appearance of their model on the candidate list is a sign that Samsung is not limiting the upcoming update to premium handsets alone.
The strongest attention still goes to the Galaxy S family, which remains at the front of Samsung’s update queue. The reported lineup includes the Galaxy S25 Ultra, S25+, S25, and S25 FE, followed by the Galaxy S24 Ultra, S24+, S24, and S24 FE, as well as the Galaxy S23 Ultra, S23+, S23, and S23 FE.
Older premium devices are not left out either. The Galaxy S22 Ultra, S22+, and S22 are also listed as potential recipients, while the Galaxy S21 FE remains on the radar for an even earlier generation of users.
Foldables are also in the frame
Samsung’s foldable lineup appears to be part of the plan as well. The list includes the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, and Z Flip 7 FE, along with the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5, Z Fold 4, and Z Flip 4.
Two more names also appear in the broader foldable group: Galaxy Z TriFold and Fold Special Edition. Their presence suggests that Samsung is not focusing only on the newest foldables, but on a wider software base across the category.
Mid-range and entry-level models add to the surprise
The most notable part of the list is the large number of non-flagship phones. In the Galaxy A series, the expected devices include the Galaxy A73, A56, A55, A54, A53, A36, A35, A34, A33, A26, A25, and A24.
Samsung also appears to be extending support to newer and older affordable models at the same time. The Galaxy A17, A16, and A15 are included in both 4G and 5G variants, while the Galaxy A07 and A06 are also named as candidates for the update.
The Galaxy M series is represented by a similarly broad list. Devices from the Galaxy M56 and M55 down to the Galaxy M06 are mentioned among the models that may receive One UI 8.5.
The Galaxy F line is not excluded either. The reported list reaches from the Galaxy F56, F55, and F54 to the Galaxy F06, showing that Samsung’s rollout plan may stretch across multiple budget-oriented branches of the Galaxy family.
Rollout is expected to start in stages
The stable version of One UI 8.5 is expected to begin rolling out gradually from late April to early May 2026, based on the progress of the beta program. The newest Galaxy S devices are said to be first in line, before the update expands to other models over time.
That staged approach is consistent with how Samsung usually handles major software releases. Flagship phones typically get priority first, while other eligible devices follow later depending on region and model type.
One UI 8.5 is also expected to bring more than just a visual refresh. The update is said to focus on performance improvements, better system efficiency, stronger AI optimization, and enhanced security and privacy.
For users whose phones are on the list, the key question is no longer whether the device may be included, but when the rollout will reach it. Flagship owners are likely to see the update earlier, while mid-range and entry-level users may need to wait longer as the release expands in phases.
