Samsung’s Galaxy A27 5G is shaping up to be one of the more notable midrange upgrades in the company’s upcoming lineup. The biggest talking point is the reported switch from Exynos to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, a move that would mark a clear break from the Galaxy A25 and Galaxy A26.
That change matters because the chipset has long been one of the defining differences in Samsung’s A-series strategy. If the leak proves accurate, the Galaxy A27 5G would signal that Samsung is reconsidering how it equips its midrange phones, especially in a segment where performance and efficiency are closely watched.
Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 appears in Geekbench
The Galaxy A27 5G has already surfaced in Geekbench under the model number SM-A276B. Its listed results show 994 in single-core testing and 2,985 in multi-core testing, both above an earlier leak that showed 777 and 1,871.
Those numbers suggest the device may be closer to a more refined hardware configuration than the first hint of its performance indicated. The chipset identified in the listing is an octa-core Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, with four performance cores clocked at 2.40 GHz and four efficiency cores at 1.80 GHz.
A familiar camera setup, with one notable front-facing change
On the rear, Samsung is said to keep a triple-camera system in place. The setup reportedly includes a 50 MP main camera with OIS, an 8 MP ultra-wide camera, and a 2 MP macro camera.
The front camera is where the most visible change appears. Its resolution is said to drop to 12 MP from the 13 MP on the Galaxy A26, although Samsung is reportedly using a larger sensor to improve light capture and produce sharper selfies.
Design updates point to a more modern look
The display side of the phone is also expected to receive an update. The Galaxy A27 5G is rumored to move away from the Infinity-U notch used by earlier generations and adopt a punch-hole cutout at the top of the screen.
It is also said to feature a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, protected by Gorilla Glass Victus+. Other leaked details mention dimensions of 162.3 x 78.6 x 7.9 mm and a plastic frame, while the overall design is reportedly being guided toward a more premium feel that echoes the Galaxy S26 series.
Android 16 and long software support
On the software side, the test unit seen so far is reported to run Android 16 with One UI 8.5. The current configuration spotted is 6 GB of RAM, though Samsung is also expected to prepare an 8 GB option.
That software package aligns with the previously mentioned promise of up to six years of OS updates. If that holds, the Galaxy A27 5G could become one of Samsung’s longer-supported midrange phones, which is a meaningful factor for buyers who keep devices for several years.
Expected launch window remains open
Sam Mobile and Galaxy Club say the Galaxy A27 is expected to arrive sometime between March and July 2026. Its launch would place it alongside other members of Samsung’s 2026 Galaxy A family, including the Galaxy A57 and Galaxy A37.
For now, the overall picture points to a phone that may offer a more noticeable shift than its predecessor, mainly through the Snapdragon move, the punch-hole display design, and extended software support. Still, the final RAM choices, camera details, and release plan remain unconfirmed by Samsung.
