The Redmi Turbo 5 is edging closer to its long-rumored India debut, and the latest chatter points to June 18 as the most likely reveal date. Xiaomi has also started teasing the phone in India, while dedicated microsites on Amazon and Xiaomi India’s online store suggest the launch plan is already taking shape.
What makes the device especially notable is that it could be the first Redmi Turbo model to officially reach the Indian market. That would give Xiaomi a new option in a segment where it appears to be pairing performance-focused hardware with a clear online sales push.
A launch that now looks increasingly organized
The most recent information comes from Smartprix and tipster Yogesh Brar, who say the Redmi Turbo 5 may be unveiled alongside the Redmi 17 5G. That pairing would allow Xiaomi to cover two different buyer profiles at the same event, rather than focusing on just one phone.
Xiaomi has already confirmed that the Redmi Turbo 5 is coming to India. The company has also shown a teaser that highlights a dual rear camera layout and at least one black color option, which lines up with the broader launch messaging now circulating online.
What the China version suggests
If the Indian model follows the Chinese version closely, the Redmi Turbo 5 should arrive with a strong hardware package. In China, the phone launched in January with a starting price of CNY 2,299 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant.
Its display is a 6.59-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 1,268 x 2,756 pixels. The screen also supports a 120Hz refresh rate, a 480Hz touch sampling rate, peak brightness of up to 3,500 nits, plus Dolby Vision and HDR10+.
Performance, cameras, and durability
Under the hood, the Chinese Redmi Turbo 5 uses the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra built on a 4nm process. It is paired with LPDDR5x Ultra RAM of up to 16GB and UFS 4.1 storage of up to 512GB.
Durability is another key part of the device’s appeal. The phone carries IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance, which places it among the more protected phones in its class.
The rear camera setup includes a 50-megapixel Sony IMX882 main sensor with an f/1.5 aperture and an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera with an f/2.2 aperture. On the front, the phone has a 20-megapixel camera with an f/2.2 aperture for selfies and video calls.
Redmi 17 5G is also part of the picture
The same launch window is also said to include the Redmi 17 5G. That model appears to target a different audience, with a focus on battery life and 5G connectivity rather than pure performance.
Reported details point to an LCD display with a high refresh rate, a Snapdragon 4 series chipset, and a battery larger than 7,000mAh. It is also said to feature a 50-megapixel rear camera, an 8-megapixel front camera, and Android 16 based on HyperOS 3.
If both devices appear together, Xiaomi would be positioning the Redmi Turbo 5 as the more premium and display-heavy option, while the Redmi 17 5G would likely serve users who value endurance above all else. For now, the key missing piece is Xiaomi’s official confirmation of the India-specific specifications and the final launch date.
