Xiaomi has split the spotlight between two different priorities in its new T-series push. The Xiaomi 17T leans hard on zoom, while the 17T Pro answers with a much larger 7,000mAh battery and faster charging.
That split also reflects a broader refresh of Xiaomi’s premium midrange strategy. The company has skipped the 16 number in this lineup, placing the 17T and 17T Pro as successors to the 15T and 15T Pro with stronger emphasis on camera hardware, display quality, performance, and charging speed.
Zoom becomes the key upgrade on Xiaomi 17T
The most noticeable change on the standard Xiaomi 17T is its telephoto system. Instead of the 50MP 2x/46mm camera used by its predecessor, the phone now gets a 50MP 5x/115mm periscope camera.
That camera also supports “optical-grade” 10x zoom through in-sensor zoom and can be used for tele-macro shots from 30cm away. Xiaomi pairs it with a 12MP 120-degree 15mm ultra-wide camera and a 32MP 90-degree 21mm front camera.
The display is a 6.59-inch OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1268p+ resolution. It supports 12-bit color, 3,500 nits peak brightness, 3,840Hz PWM, and DC dimming, while the smaller size sets it apart from the 6.83-inch screen used on the 15T and 17T Pro.
Battery gains come with a thicker body
Xiaomi has also increased battery capacity on the 17T. The phone carries a 6,500mAh battery, which is 1,000mAh more than the previous generation, even though the body is slightly thicker at 8.2mm.
Charging support includes 67W HyperCharge, 50W wired USB PPS, and 22.5W reverse charging for other devices. On paper, that makes the 17T a stronger all-rounder for users who want endurance without giving up fast wired charging.
Under the hood, the phone runs on the 4nm Dimensity 8500. Xiaomi says the chip includes eight Cortex-A725 cores, a Mali-G720 MC8 GPU, 12GB LPDDR5X RAM at 9,600Mbps, and UFS 4.1 storage in 256GB or 512GB versions.
17T Pro raises the ceiling with a 7,000mAh battery
The 17T Pro pushes battery life even further with a Si/C 7,000mAh cell that contains 16% silicon. That is an increase of 1,500mAh, or 27%, over the 15T Pro.
Charging support is also more ambitious. Xiaomi gives the Pro model 100W HyperCharge, 100W USB PPS, and 50W wireless charging, making it the more flexible choice for users who want the fastest possible top-ups.
Its OLED display keeps the same 6.83-inch size and 12-bit color support as before, with 1280p+ resolution and 3,500 nits peak brightness. Compared with the standard 17T, the Pro panel adds a 144Hz refresh rate and an ultra-dim mode that can go down to 1 nit.
Shared camera hardware, different main sensor
Both models use the same telephoto, ultra-wide, and selfie cameras. The real difference sits in the main sensor, where the 17T Pro uses a 1/1.31-inch OmniVision Light Fusion 950 sensor with 1.2µm pixels.
The regular 17T uses a smaller 1/1.55-inch Light Fusion 800 sensor with 1.0µm pixels. Both phones still rely on 50MP resolution, Leica Summilux 1G + 6P lenses, and optical image stabilization.
Xiaomi has also added 4K 60fps video with HDR10+ and Log support. Other shared camera features include Stage mode for photos and video, Leica Live Moment, and Leica Live Portrait.
Performance and connectivity separate the two models further
The 17T Pro is powered by the 3nm Dimensity 9500. Xiaomi claims it improves single-core CPU performance by 32% and GPU performance by 33% versus the previous generation.
It comes with 12GB LPDDR5X RAM at 9,600Mbps and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage, while cooling is handled by the 3D IceLoop system. The standard 17T also uses Xiaomi’s 3D IceLoop cooling setup.
On connectivity, the Pro version gets Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 with Dual-Bluetooth. The 17T uses Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 6.0, without dual connectivity, though both phones include NFC.
Both devices also share stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, Hi-Res Audio, Hi-Res Audio Wireless, dual-SIM support, and Xiaomi Offline Communication. eSIM is available as an option in some regions.
Colors, pricing, and launch offers
The Xiaomi 17T comes in Black, Deep Blue, and Deep Violet. The 17T Pro is offered in Black, Blue, Violet, and Opal White.
Pricing starts at €750 for the 17T in the 12/256GB configuration. The 17T Pro starts at €900 for the same memory setup, with both models priced €100 higher than the previous generation.
Early buyers also get a package of services that includes a 3-month trial of Google AI Pro with 5TB cloud storage, 3 months of YouTube Premium, and 4 months of Spotify Premium. That bundle gives the 17T series a software and services angle to match the hardware upgrades.
