HUAWEI Nova 16 Pro Marries a 200MP Main Camera with a 7,000 mAh Battery

HUAWEI has expanded its nova lineup in China with four new models at once, and the nova 16 Pro is the one drawing the most attention. The appeal is clear: a 200MP main camera, a 7000 mAh battery, and a spec sheet that places it near the top of the series without moving into the Ultra tier.

The new family is positioned with clear differences between each model. HUAWEI has split the nova 16 series across price, battery life, camera focus, and durability, making the lineup feel more segmented than a typical midrange refresh.

The Pro model focuses on imaging

Nova 16 Pro is the headline device in the series because of its 200MP primary camera. It is paired with a 50MP ultrawide lens and a 50MP telephoto lens, giving the phone a camera setup aimed squarely at users who prioritize photography.

The Pro model also includes a 50MP front camera with autofocus. That same selfie camera feature is also present on the nova 16 Ultra, which gives both upper-tier models an advantage for selfies and video calls.

Battery life and performance stay consistent

HUAWEI equips the nova 16 Pro with a 7000 mAh battery, matching the standard nova 16. The phone also uses the Kirin 9010S chipset, so it shares the same platform as the non-Pro model.

Storage options go higher on the Pro side, with configurations reaching up to 1TB. That gives the phone more room for users who store a large number of photos, videos, and apps.

The rest of the series is built with different priorities

At the entry point, the nova 16z is the most affordable model in the family. It uses a vertical oval rear camera module, Kirin 8020, 12GB of RAM, and satellite communication support, but its battery is smaller than the others at 6000 mAh.

The regular nova 16 is positioned as a battery-focused option. In addition to the 7000 mAh battery and Kirin 9010S chipset, it also includes a 50MP telephoto lens, while the entire nova 16 series supports 100W fast charging through USB-C.

Ultra adds the most complete feature set

Above the Pro sits the nova 16 Ultra, which keeps the 200MP main camera but adds 50W wireless charging. HUAWEI also gives this model IP68 and IP69 certification, making it the most durable device in the group against immersion and high-temperature water sprays.

The Pro and Ultra models share the same 6.84-inch OLED display with a 1320 x 2856 resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. Both also use an in-display fingerprint sensor, reinforcing their position as the most premium variants in the series.

Display differences and pricing show how HUAWEI separates the lineup

The lower models use smaller panels. Nova 16z comes with a 6.7-inch OLED display at 1084 x 2412, while the nova 16 uses a 6.68-inch OLED panel with a 1280 x 2800 resolution.

HUAWEI has also set different price bands for each variant in China, with the cost scaling by memory capacity. The structure makes each model easy to place within the lineup, from the budget-friendly nova 16z to the fully loaded nova 16 Ultra.

Model Variant Price
nova 16z 12GB/256GB 2,699 Yuan
nova 16z 12GB/512GB 3,199 Yuan
nova 16 12GB/256GB 2,999 Yuan
nova 16 12GB/512GB 3,499 Yuan
nova 16 Pro 12GB/256GB 3,899 Yuan
nova 16 Pro 12GB/512GB 4,399 Yuan
nova 16 Pro 12GB/1TB 4,999 Yuan
nova 16 Ultra 12GB/256GB 4,689 Yuan
nova 16 Ultra 12GB/512GB 5,199 Yuan
nova 16 Ultra 12GB/1TB 5,799 Yuan

With four distinct models, large batteries, 200MP cameras on the Pro and Ultra, and a wide spread of pricing, the nova 16 series is designed to cover a broad range of users in China. Attention now turns to whether the lineup will also reach Indonesia through an official launch.
