TECNO is giving selected smartphone owners a free three-month trial of Google AI Plus, but the offer is not open to every device in its lineup. The promotion is tied to newer mid-range to upper-tier models that meet the eligibility requirements, which makes it more of a targeted benefit than a broad campaign.
The move also reflects a shift in how handset makers can add value. Instead of relying only on hardware specifications, TECNO is now using digital services and AI tools as part of the user experience.
What the Google AI Plus package includes
The trial package is built around several Google AI features that cover storage, productivity, creativity, and learning. One of the main attractions is 2 TB of cloud storage, which can be used to back up photos, high-resolution videos, and important documents across devices.
The bundle also brings Gemini integration in Gmail. That feature is designed to help users summarize emails, draft replies, and organize messages more efficiently.
For image-related tasks, the package includes Nano Banana 2, which supports prompt-based image creation and editing. TECNO also adds a Personal Learning Assistant that uses Gemini and NotebookLM capabilities for research and study support.
Who can get it and when the promotion runs
The activation window for this collaboration is quite long, running from 14 May 2026 to 6 June 2027. Even so, eligibility remains limited to specific TECNO devices that satisfy the support requirements.
That means users need to check whether their phone model is included before expecting access. TECNO has not made the promotion a universal feature across all of its products.
How the trial is activated on TECNO phones
Access is delivered through an over-the-air, or OTA, software update that starts rolling out gradually from 25 May 2026. After the update arrives and the device passes the eligibility check, users can activate the offer through the Gemini or Google One app on their TECNO phone.
Once the app is opened, a “3-Month Trial” pop-up appears on the main screen. Users then follow the on-screen steps to begin the service activation.
Payment verification and renewal terms
Claiming the trial requires a valid payment method. The options mentioned include credit cards, debit cards, and supported e-wallets, and this step is used for identity verification.
Users can cancel at any time before the three-month trial ends without being charged. If the subscription is not canceled, the normal monthly fee for the local region will begin in the fourth month.
With this offer, TECNO is clearly pushing its devices beyond hardware alone. The combination of 2 TB cloud storage, Gemini in Gmail, Nano Banana 2, and the Personal Learning Assistant gives eligible users a free entry point into Google AI services for three months.
