Apple Intelligence is set to become one of the biggest draws of iOS 27, but the feature will not reach every iPhone. Only 12 iPhone models are expected to qualify for Apple’s latest AI-powered Siri and related intelligence features.
The limited lineup matters for users trying to determine whether their current device will still be included in Apple’s next wave of smart updates. The cutoff points to Apple’s continued focus on device processing power, not just software version support.
Which iPhones are on the list
The compatible models begin with the iPhone 17e, iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. The iPhone Air is also included in the same generation.
Apple’s support list also includes the iPhone 16e, iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. Support continues with the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, while the regular iPhone 15 is not included.
Why the range is so limited
The main requirement for Apple Intelligence and the newer Siri AI is the ability to handle heavier on-device computation. For that reason, Apple is restricting access to models that meet its hardware threshold.
This pattern is concentrated around newer devices, premium models, and variants with stronger hardware. For users, that means an iPhone running iOS 27 will not automatically receive every AI feature.
Other Apple devices that support it
Beyond iPhone, the feature is also available on the iPad mini with the A17 Pro chip. Support extends to iPad and Mac models with M1 or later, Apple Vision Pro, and select Apple Watch models.
Apple Watch Series 10 or later is included, as is Apple Watch Ultra 2 or later. Apple Watch SE 3 can also use the feature when paired nearby with a supported iPhone.
When iOS 27 is expected to arrive
iOS 27 is scheduled to launch for the public around September 2026. That timeline makes the compatibility list especially important for users who want to know ahead of time whether their device is ready.
With support limited to specific models, Apple is once again making clear that the AI experience on iPhone will depend heavily on the device class. For users aiming to access Apple Intelligence, the compatible list remains the key reference before the update rolls out widely.
