Vivo X500 Pro is shaping up to be one of the more interesting compact flagships in the X500 lineup, not because of a routine spec bump, but because its camera hardware sounds unusually ambitious for a smaller device.
The latest leak suggests that Vivo is trying to combine a restrained body size with imaging features more often associated with larger premium phones. That mix could make the X500 Pro stand out for users who want flagship photography without moving to a bulky handset.
A compact flagship with a high-end imaging focus
According to tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the Vivo X500 Pro will sit between the standard X500 model and the Pro Max variant. It is also said to use a 6.37-inch display, keeping the device in compact flagship territory.
At the core of the leak is a MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro chipset, a yet-to-be-announced flagship chip reportedly built on a 2nm process. If accurate, that would place the phone in a very competitive performance bracket even before the camera details are considered.
LOFIC and an 85mm periscope lens are the headline features
The most striking part of the rumor is the main camera setup. Vivo X500 Pro is said to feature a 50MP primary camera with a large 1/1.28-inch sensor and LOFIC, or Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor, technology.
LOFIC is described as a solution for improving dynamic range and preserving highlight detail in difficult lighting. In practical terms, that could help the phone handle scenes with strong contrast, such as bright backgrounds that often wash out detail.
That primary sensor would be paired with a 50MP ultra-wide camera, although the ultra-wide sensor is said to be smaller than the main one.
The biggest attention, however, goes to the periscope telephoto unit. Vivo X500 Pro is rumored to include a 64MP periscope camera with an 85mm equivalent lens, a focal length that is closely tied to portrait photography.
Digital Chat Station also says the periscope camera may support macro photography, giving the telephoto module a role beyond zoom and portrait shots.
Every Pro model may share the same 85mm approach
In a follow-up reply, the same tipster added that all Vivo X500 Pro series models will use an 85mm periscope lens. That detail suggests Vivo may be using the telephoto setup as a defining trait for the Pro family.
If that holds true, the company would appear to be building a clear imaging identity across the upper end of the lineup. Differences between Pro variants may then come down more to sensors, processing, or supporting features rather than the basic telephoto concept.
The wider X500 lineup is also taking shape
Separate leaks have already pointed to the standard Vivo X500 model, which is said to keep a relatively compact 6.59-inch display. It is also rumored to carry a battery of at least 7,500mAh, along with a 50MP main camera using a 1/1.28-inch sensor.
At the top end, the Vivo X500 Pro Max has also surfaced in earlier leaks. That model is expected to use a BOE display, a larger battery than its predecessor, and upgraded imaging hardware with flagship-grade internals.
Taken together, the three devices suggest that Vivo is preparing a more clearly segmented X500 series, with the Pro positioned as the balance point between compact size and premium camera capability.
For now, all of these details remain unconfirmed and should be treated as leaks. Even so, the combination of LOFIC, a 50MP main camera, and an 85mm periscope lens gives the Vivo X500 Pro an unusually strong early identity in a market where compact flagships often have to compromise on camera ambition.
