Chery Indonesia is seeing an early response that few new electric models can match. The Chery Q has already collected more than 3,000 preorders since bookings opened on 18 May 2026.

The figure could climb further because the preorder period runs until 15 July. Vice Country Director Chery Business Unit Budi Darmawan Jantania said the result reflects market trust in the Chery Q and growing consumer interest in an EV that is practical for urban mobility.

Safety and convenience are the main selling points

Chery positions the Q as a compact EV with a full feature set. The model comes with 20 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, or ADAS, designed to improve confidence in dense city traffic and while maneuvering in tight spaces.

Practicality is another major part of the package. The Chery Q offers 38 multifunction storage compartments, a 70-liter front trunk, and a rear cargo area that can be expanded to 1,450 liters.

Fast charging adds to the appeal

The electric model uses a 42.7 kWh battery. With that battery, the Chery Q is claimed to travel up to 400 km on a single full charge based on NEDC calculations.

Chery has also equipped the model with fast-charging capability. Charging from 30 percent to 80 percent is said to take just 16.5 minutes.

Preorder bonuses are still available

During the preorder period, Chery Indonesia is offering a free upgrade to the Sigma Package for all customers who place an order. The package adds several features, including Autonomous Parking Assist, a Power Tailgate, special-design 17-inch wheels, and External Communication Audio.

The incentive is part of Chery’s strategy to strengthen the Chery Q’s appeal among buyers looking for a compact electric vehicle. The company believes the combination of safety, comfort, and ease of use is the main reason the model has received such a fast response since bookings opened.

Running costs are also being highlighted

Beyond features and driving range, Chery is also emphasizing lower daily operating costs compared with gasoline cars. The energy cost for charging the Chery Q is said to be only Rp181 per km.

At that rate, a 40 km daily trip would cost about Rp7,240, while 60 km of mobility would require around Rp10,860. In a monthly use simulation of 1,200 km, the estimated energy cost for the Chery Q is around Rp217,200 per month.

Budi Darmawan said the preorder response could further strengthen market confidence in the Chery Q. He added that the model is expected to encourage more consumers to switch to electric vehicles that are practical, safe, and aligned with urban mobility lifestyles.
