Apple is reportedly preparing an unusual memory strategy for the iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e, with both models said to reach 9GB of RAM. If accurate, it would mark the first time iPhone uses an odd-numbered RAM capacity.
The detail comes from supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who says Apple is not simply increasing memory in a standard step. Instead, the company is expected to use a new configuration to reach the 9GB figure.
A new memory layout for standard iPhone models
Apple has traditionally favored even memory capacities on iPhone, including 4GB, 6GB, and 8GB. For the iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e, the 9GB figure is said to come from six 1.5GB memory chips rather than the four 2GB chips used in the previous generation.
