Redmi K90 Ultra is drawing attention for a reason that matters most to mobile gamers: its performance results reportedly surpass several Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 phones in certain gaming tests. Ahead of its scheduled launch in China on June 30, the device is being watched closely for a hardware mix that is unusual in mainstream smartphones.
The most distinctive element is its active cooling system. Redmi combines a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, a Redmi-built D2 graphics chip, a 6,700 mm² 3D Ice-Sealed cooling system, and an internal fan that remains rare in this segment.
Gaming numbers that stand out
Tipster Digital Chat Station shared test results showing the Redmi K90 Ultra running Genshin Impact for 60 minutes at an average of 165 fps through 3x frame interpolation. Power consumption was reported at around 5.8 watts, while performance remained stable without notable drops.
In Honkai: Star Rail, the device reportedly averaged 59.7 fps with power usage of about 7.5 watts. DCS said the average frame rate, 1% low performance, and power efficiency were even better than some Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 devices with higher specifications.
The phone also performed strongly in Peace Elite, the Chinese version of PUBG Mobile. Redmi K90 Ultra maintained an average of 164.8 fps with very minimal frame drops.
| Game | Average Performance | Power Use | Notable Detail |
|---|---|---|---|
| Genshin Impact | 165 fps | About 5.8 watts | 60 minutes, 3x frame interpolation |
| Honkai: Star Rail | 59.7 fps | About 7.5 watts | Better 1% low and efficiency than some Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 phones |
| Peace Elite | 164.8 fps | Not stated | Very few frame drops |
| Honor of Kings | About 144 fps | About 3.8 to 4 watts | Highest graphics setting, 1% low around 140 fps |
Honor of Kings at the highest graphics setting showed similarly strong behavior. The smartphone reportedly held around 144 fps while using only about 3.8 to 4 watts, and its 1% low performance stayed near 140 fps.
Why the fan matters
The data shared by DCS suggests the Redmi K90 Ultra can compete closely with Snapdragon 8 Elite phones that do not use a fan. In some scenarios, the Redmi device even recorded higher frame rates while keeping power use under control.
That is why the internal fan is becoming the most discussed part of the phone. It appears designed to preserve peak performance for longer periods, especially during heavy gaming sessions.
Big battery, fast charging
Beyond gaming, the Redmi K90 Ultra is also said to carry a battery larger than 8,500mAh. It is expected to support 100W fast charging, giving it a strong combination of endurance and quick top-ups for a flagship gaming device.
Redmi has not revealed the full official specification sheet yet. With launch day approaching, more details are expected to follow in the coming days.
