Galaxy Jump 5 Arrives as a Rebranded Galaxy A27 5G, Not a New Surprise

Samsung has launched the Galaxy Jump 5 in South Korea as a carrier-exclusive handset, but the device is essentially a rebranded Galaxy A27 5G. The similarities extend across the specifications, features, and design, which are described as identical.

That makes the Galaxy Jump 5 less of a fresh product launch and more of a regional naming strategy. Samsung is using the same hardware platform again, this time through a partnership with KT Corporation for the domestic market.

What buyers get

The Galaxy Jump 5 is listed on KT’s online store at KRW 5,45,600. Samsung has not disclosed which RAM and storage variants will be offered for this model.

Sales are scheduled to begin on 3 July through KT’s online store. Color options include Black, Green, and Pink, which closely mirror the Galaxy A27 5G’s Black, Light Green, and Light Pink finishes.

Mid-range hardware carried over unchanged

On the display side, the phone uses a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED panel with Full-HD+ 1,080 x 2,340 resolution. It also supports a 120Hz refresh rate, up to 800 nits of peak brightness, and Corning Gorilla Victus+ protection.

Samsung runs the device on One UI 8.5 based on Android 16. The company has not outlined a separate update policy for the Galaxy Jump 5, although the Galaxy A27 5G is promised six operating system upgrades and six years of security updates.

Performance comes from the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 octa-core chipset, built on a 4nm process. Samsung pairs it with LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 3.1 internal storage.

A 5,000mAh battery powers the phone, and charging tops out at 25W through USB Type-C. Security is handled by a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, while the handset measures 162.4 x 78.2 x 7.8 mm and weighs about 200 grams.

Cameras and positioning

The camera setup also matches the Galaxy A27 5G, starting with a 50-megapixel main camera with an f/1.8 aperture and optical image stabilization. It is joined by a 5-megapixel ultrawide camera with an f/2.2 aperture and a 2-megapixel macro camera with an f/2.4 aperture.

For selfies and video calls, Samsung includes a 12-megapixel front camera with an f/2.2 aperture. The hardware overlap makes it clear that the Galaxy Jump 5 is built from the same component list rather than from a newly developed platform.

That approach also explains why the device stands out mainly through its name, market positioning, and sales channel. In practice, Samsung is extending the Galaxy A line through a local carrier-exclusive variant rather than introducing a fundamentally different phone.

The pricing also gives the Galaxy Jump 5 a slightly higher profile than the Galaxy A27 5G in India, where the latter launched at Rs. 28,999. Even so, the Korean model’s appeal lies more in its exclusive distribution than in any hardware distinction.
