Pixel Users Warned as Missed Calls Problem Spreads Beyond One Model

A growing number of Pixel owners are reporting a problem that goes beyond a routine software annoyance: incoming calls are not reaching their phones. In multiple complaints across Google’s subreddit communities and Issue Tracker, callers appear to vanish without any clear warning on the receiving end.

The concern is not limited to one device generation. Reports have surfaced across several Pixel models, and some users say they only realized something was wrong after repeated call attempts kept failing to connect.

What users are seeing

One of the most discussed complaints came from a Pixel 10 Pro XL owner who said the issue began after the latest update. According to that report, the caller would see the call ring briefly before disconnecting, while the Pixel itself stayed dark and silent.

The same user said a partner often had to call three or four times before the phone would occasionally ring. Restarting the device, clearing cache, and turning off Do Not Disturb reportedly did not resolve the problem.

The issue may not be limited to Pixel hardware

Evidence shared by users has pointed suspicion toward the Google Phone app rather than Pixel devices alone. Nicholas Sutrich of Android Central said he has experienced similar behavior on several phones over the past few months and believes the problem lies in Google Phone.

That theory has gained more attention because the same missed-call behavior also appeared in Android 17 QPR1 Beta 5. One user said their Pixel 10 Pro XL only started missing calls after installing the latest beta, and a dedicated thread was later opened on Google’s Issue Tracker.

Why the missed calls matter

Missed calls are more than an inconvenience when they involve urgent family or emergency contact. Users have argued that failing to receive important calls can leave people cut off at the worst possible moment.

One Reddit user highlighted that risk by referring to family members, including children and older parents, as an example of how serious the issue can become. The same discussion has also raised concern that Google may already be aware of the problem.

Possible clues from the community

A Google Community member was said to have responded to one of the Reddit threads, which suggests the issue has reached Google’s attention. At the same time, users continue to compare settings and behavior in search of a common trigger.

One recurring clue points to Call Screen on Pixel devices. A Reddit user said their incoming-call notifications returned after turning Call Screen off, which has pushed more discussion toward the phone service and call-processing layer rather than signal strength or hardware faults.

That suspicion is reinforced by Google Phone’s recent history of bugs. Earlier this year, the app had a separate issue that forced the screen into landscape during calls and made the controls awkward to use, before Google addressed it with a “keep portrait mode” option in display settings.

Android Central has contacted Google about the missing incoming-call reports. Until the company issues a public explanation, Pixel owners and other Google Phone users may need to remain alert to the possibility that important calls are not appearing as expected.
