Oppo Reno 16 Puts AI First, But Its 50MP Cameras and 7,000mAh Battery Stand Out More

Oppo has introduced the Reno 16 and Reno 16c in India with a clear shift in focus toward AI-assisted use, stronger photography tools, and larger batteries. The launch also marks the first Reno lineup to feature the AI Snap Key, a dedicated shortcut button tied to AI functions.

That approach gives the series a broader appeal than a typical midrange upgrade. Oppo is pairing hardware gains with built-in software tools, while also adding a new magnetic accessory called Bubble that extends the camera experience.

AI tools built into the phone

The AI Snap Key is one of the most visible changes on the new series. Oppo designed it as a shortcut to AI-based tools, making the phones feel more practical for everyday tasks beyond camera use.

On the Reno 16, those tools include AI Mind Pilot, AI Mind Space, AI Bill Manager, and AI translation features. The phone runs ColorOS 16 based on Android 16 and supports integration with ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity.

That combination shows Oppo is not only chasing higher specifications. It is also trying to make AI a native part of the user experience rather than an optional add-on.

Camera hardware remains the main draw

The Reno 16 carries a triple rear camera setup, and all three sensors are rated at 50MP. The system includes a Sony LYT-600 main camera with OIS, a 50MP ultra-wide camera, and a 50MP telephoto lens with 3.5x optical zoom.

Up front, the phone uses a 50MP selfie camera that can record 4K video. That makes the Reno 16 one of the more aggressive camera-focused entries in the Reno family.

The Reno 16c is also equipped with a strong camera package. It pairs a 50MP main camera with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, a 50MP telephoto lens with 3.5x zoom, and a 50MP front camera.

The telephoto lens on both models is especially notable for users who want more reach in mobile photography. The 50MP front camera on each device also supports the growing demand for higher-quality selfies and front-facing video.

Big screens and even bigger batteries

The Reno 16 comes with a 6.32-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Oppo says the panel can reach a peak brightness of 3,600 nits and is protected by Crystal Guard.

Performance is handled by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Oppo backs it with a 6,700mAh battery and 80W SuperVOOC fast charging.

The Reno 16c uses a 6.57-inch AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. It runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 and offers up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage.

Its battery goes even further, reaching 7,000mAh while still supporting 80W charging. Both phones also carry IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance.

Bubble adds a different kind of camera utility

Alongside the phones, Oppo has introduced Bubble as a magnetic camera companion. The accessory attaches to the smartphone and includes a 1.73-inch AMOLED display.

That small screen lets users preview photos while using the rear camera. Bubble can also work as a wireless camera remote, giving more flexibility for selfies, video shooting, or group shots.

The accessory has a 550mAh battery and is designed for users who want to get more out of the rear camera system without relying solely on the phone’s front camera.

The Reno 16 starts at Rs 61,999 for the 8GB+256GB model. The 12GB+256GB version is priced at Rs 67,999.
