Amazfit’s Screenless Strap Targets Hyrox Accuracy, Not Wrist-Based Tracking

Amazfit has introduced the Helio Strap Pro, a screenless smart band designed for athletes who need more precise workout data than a wrist sensor can usually provide. The device is aimed at Hyrox competitors and hybrid training users, where grip-heavy movements and constant position changes can interfere with wrist-based readings.

Instead of putting the emphasis on display features, Amazfit built the product around two body-mounted sensor modules. That approach reflects a clear shift in priorities: the company is chasing cleaner performance data during intense training, not a traditional smartwatch experience.

Two sensors, two roles

The first module is called Helio Core Motion HR and is worn on the upper arm. It measures heart rate with Amazfit’s BioTracker 6.0 PPG biometric sensor, a placement that helps reduce the reading errors often seen at the wrist during demanding exercise.

The second module, Helio Core Motion Waist, clips to the waist and tracks core movement, body position, and stability. Together, the two sensors are designed to give a more complete picture of training performance than a single wrist device can usually offer.

Amazfit says the setup works with the Balance 3 and Balance Ultra smartwatches through Hyrox Race and Hyrox Simulation modes. Even if the smartwatch is removed, the training data continues to be collected and later analyzed in the Zepp app.

Built around Hyrox sessions

The Hyrox focus is where the Helio Strap Pro becomes especially specific. In the Zepp app, the system evaluates eight mandatory stations: SkiErg, Sled Push, Sled Pull, Burpee Broad Jumps, Rowing, Farmer’s Carry, Sandbag Lunges, and Wall Balls.

Beyond basic workload and cardio tracking, the platform also analyzes movement quality and muscle load during the session. Amazfit is pairing the hardware with software that tries to interpret how the body is performing, not just how hard it is working.

Another highlighted feature is HybridCharge Energy Intelligence, which combines BioCharge, Training Load, and LifeLoad to estimate physical condition. The estimate is based on training, recovery time, and daily stress, giving users a broader view of readiness than workout numbers alone.

Daily health tracking still remains part of the package

Although it is built for hard training, the Helio Strap Pro also supports 24-hour health monitoring. It can track heart rate, blood oxygen levels, stress, and sleep quality.

Sleep tracking includes REM, sleep variation, and naps, making the device relevant outside training sessions as well. The Helio Core Motion HR also supports more than 50 sports modes, ranging from running and cycling to martial arts and indoor workouts.

In strength training mode, the device can automatically recognize up to 25 movements, including squats, bench press, and burpees. That gives it broader usefulness beyond Hyrox athletes alone.

Connectivity, compatibility, and price

The Helio Strap Pro uses Bluetooth 5.2 and can share real-time heart-rate data with other smartwatches, fitness equipment, and third-party training apps. It also syncs with Strava, Apple Health, Google Fit, TrainingPeaks, Runna, Adidas Running, Komoot, and Relive.

The device works with Android 8.0 or iOS 17 and later through the Zepp app, and Amazfit says there is no monthly subscription fee. At launch, full support is available with the Balance 3 and Balance Ultra, while compatibility with other Amazfit smartwatches will arrive after a future update.

Amazfit lists the Helio Strap Pro at US$199.99 through its official website and partner retail stores. The package includes the Helio Core Motion HR module, Helio Core Motion Waist module, Helio Pro Clip, gray olive and orange nylon straps, a black arm band, and a magnetic charger adapter.

With this release, Amazfit is pushing deeper into specialized sports hardware. The Helio Strap Pro is not trying to win on screen size or watch-style convenience, but on the quality of the data it can capture when workouts become too intense for wrist-only tracking.
