Tenda’s Cheap Wi-Fi 6 Extender Adds Mesh Coverage, Aims at Weak Spots at Home

Tenda has added another budget networking device to its lineup with the A33 V2.0, a Wi-Fi 6 range extender that can also be used as a wall-plug router. Positioned for homes and small offices, it is designed to fill dead zones without pushing buyers into a more expensive mesh system.

What makes the device stand out is its Mesh Networking support. That feature lets multiple units work under a single network name, which can make Wi-Fi coverage feel more seamless across rooms with uneven signal strength.

AX3000 Dual-Band Performance

The A33 V2.0 uses a dual-band AX3000 wireless platform with a combined theoretical speed of up to 2,976Mbps. That total is split between 2,402Mbps on the 5GHz band and 574Mbps on the 2.4GHz band.

Main Specification Detail
Wireless Platform Dual-band AX3000
Combined Theoretical Speed Up to 2,976Mbps
5GHz 2,402Mbps, 802.11ax, 160MHz
2.4GHz 574Mbps
Processor Dual-core 1.2GHz

Tenda says the built-in dual-core 1.2GHz chip is intended to handle routing, signal boosting, and mesh networking tasks efficiently. The goal is to keep the connection stable even when several devices are online at the same time.

Compact Wall-Plug Design

The A33 V2.0 comes in white with a wall-mounted body measuring 86 x 37.5 x 196 mm. Its power supply is integrated into the chassis, so there is no need for a separate adapter occupying the outlet below it.

For wireless hardware, Tenda includes two external omnidirectional dual-band antennas and two external Front-End Modules, or FEMs. The company says this setup can improve signal strength by 38% compared with older Wi-Fi 5 1200M extenders, especially when pushing 5GHz signals through walls.

Physical Feature Detail
Dimensions 86 x 37.5 x 196 mm
Antennas 2 external omnidirectional dual-band antennas
FEM 2 external Front-End Modules
Port 1 Gigabit Ethernet

Four Modes for Different Network Needs

The A33 V2.0 supports four operating modes: Signal Extension, Router, AP Wired Repeater, and Mesh Networking. Its single Gigabit Ethernet port can function as either a WAN input or a LAN output, depending on the selected mode.

This flexibility makes the device useful not only for extending coverage, but also for simpler network setups in small workspaces. Tenda says it is optimized for areas of about 90 to 100 square meters, or roughly 960 to 1,070 square feet.

In a crowded market for low-cost networking gear, Tenda’s strategy is straightforward: keep the price low while still offering features usually associated with pricier devices. Gizmochina reported that the product is already on sale in China, with a regular price of 209 yuan after the promo period ends.

For users looking for a practical way to reduce dead zones without moving to a more complex mesh package, the A33 V2.0 offers a fairly complete set of features. Its combination of Wi-Fi 6, Mesh support, and wall-plug design makes it relevant for small homes and compact offices that need more even wireless coverage.
