Redmi’s Mysterious 5G Phone Lands on IMDA, Global Launch Looks Closer

Redmi has quietly surfaced with a new smartphone listing in Singapore, and the sign is hard to ignore. The device appeared on IMDA under model number 2607FRNEAG, suggesting that its global rollout may already be moving forward.

The regulator listing does not reveal the phone’s commercial name, but it does confirm that Xiaomi Electronics Pte. Ltd. is listed as the supplier. That usually places a device at an important stage in the launch process, even when the final branding has not yet been disclosed.

What the IMDA listing confirms

According to Gadgets360, the filing only exposes limited details, but those details still matter. The handset is listed with support for 5G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and NFC.

Beyond that, IMDA does not disclose the phone’s marketing name or hardware specifications. For now, the listing is more of a signal than a reveal, but it is the kind of signal that often appears before a broader announcement.

Why the appearance matters now

Certification listings often arrive in sequence, so the IMDA entry may be only one step in a wider approval process. That pattern has made 2607FRNEAG look increasingly close to an official unveiling, even though its position in Redmi’s lineup remains unclear.

The timing is also notable because Redmi is active on another front in China. The company is preparing to launch the Redmi Note 17 series soon, after already introducing the Redmi K90 Ultra in that market.

The Redmi K90 Ultra is positioned as a high-end device with Snapdragon 8 Elite, LPDDR5x RAM of up to 16GB, and UFS 4.1 storage of up to 512GB. It also includes an active cooling fan, a D2 AI chip, and a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a refresh rate of up to 165Hz.

Battery hardware is another major part of that phone’s appeal, with an 8,550mAh battery and 100W wired fast charging. On the camera side, Redmi equips it with a 50MP Light Hunter 800 main camera, an 8MP ultrawide camera, and a 20MP front camera.

The Redmi K90 Ultra also carries IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance. With that device already in the market and another Redmi series expected soon in China, attention now turns to when 2607FRNEAG will finally be identified.
