Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 is emerging as the more convincing option in the midrange class after early testing showed it edging out Dimensity 7400 in several key areas. The difference is not huge on paper, but it is large enough to matter for users who care about consistent performance and a more polished gaming experience.
Both chips launched in February 2025 and are built on TSMC’s 4nm process, yet their internal designs point in different directions. Qualcomm focuses on stronger CPU and GPU output, while MediaTek puts more emphasis on peak 5G speed and a few connectivity advantages.
Core specifications show two different priorities
Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 uses a CPU layout with 1 x Cortex-A720 at 2.3 GHz, 3 x Cortex-A720 at 2.2 GHz, and 4 x Cortex-A520 at 1.8 GHz. Dimensity 7400 takes a different route with 4 x Cortex-A78 at 2.6 GHz and 4 x Cortex-A55 at 2.0 GHz.
On graphics, Qualcomm pairs the chip with Adreno 810 and Snapdragon Elite Gaming features. MediaTek counters with Mali-G615 MP2 and HyperEngine Gaming Technology, while both platforms support 200MP single cameras and 4K 30 fps video recording.

Benchmark results favor Qualcomm in a steady way
The benchmark comparison used Realme P3 for Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 and iQOO Z10R for Dimensity 7400. In Geekbench 6, Snapdragon scored 1092 in single-core and 3094 in multi-core, while Dimensity posted 1042 and 3014.
The lead is modest, but it still shows that Qualcomm’s chip handles CPU-heavy work better. In percentage terms, Snapdragon was 4.8% ahead in single-core and 2.6% ahead in multi-core performance.
| Geekbench 6 | Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 | Dimensity 7400 |
|---|---|---|
| Single-Core | 1092 | 1042 |
| Multi-Core | 3094 | 3014 |
Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 also led in AnTuTu v11 with a total score of 981,557, compared with 925,061 for Dimensity 7400. Qualcomm was 15% ahead in CPU and 10% ahead in GPU performance, while MediaTek had a slight edge in memory and UX scores.
| AnTuTu v11 | Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 | Dimensity 7400 |
|---|---|---|
| Total Score | 981,557 | 925,061 |
| CPU | 393,468 | 340,697 |
| GPU | 161,350 | 145,500 |

Gaming and connectivity decide the practical difference
For gaming, Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 brings Adreno 810 and, for the first time in this line, Snapdragon Game Super Resolution. The feature can scale game scenes up to 4K without a major power penalty, which should appeal to users who play for long sessions.
Dimensity 7400 remains competitive with Mali-G615 MP2 and HyperEngine Gaming Technology, both designed to keep frame rates and network stability in check. Even so, the benchmark results and graphics feature set still place Snapdragon in the more convincing position.
Camera support is close on both sides, with 200MP single-camera support and 4K 30 fps video recording. Snapdragon adds Spectra Triple ISP with zero shutter lag in some camera combinations, while Dimensity includes Google Ultra HDR and hardware-based noise reduction.
Connectivity is where MediaTek has one clear number advantage, since Dimensity 7400 reaches up to 3.27 Gbps, above Snapdragon 6 Gen 4’s 2.9 Gbps. Qualcomm, however, supports mmWave, while Dimensity 7400 is limited to sub-6 GHz, which may matter in certain markets.
Which chip looks like the better buy
On the full picture, Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 appears stronger and more complete. Its CPU, GPU, and gaming advantages make it the safer choice for buyers who want performance consistency over the long term.
Dimensity 7400 still has a place because of its higher peak 5G speed and competitive camera support. For most users, though, the balance of performance and features makes Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 the more persuasive option unless a Dimensity 7400 phone is priced much more aggressively.
