Redmi Pad 2’s 2K 120Hz Screen Looks Strong, But Performance Trade-Offs Remain

Redmi Pad 2 immediately stands out in the two-million-rupiah tablet segment by pairing a 2K 120Hz display with a price of Rp2.399.000. That combination makes it one of the more aggressive options for users who want a large-screen device without spending much more.

The appeal is clear for study, entertainment, and light work. Xiaomi positions the tablet as a portable entry-level productivity device, and its feature set does support that claim for everyday use.

Screen quality is the main attraction

The 9.7-inch panel offers 2048 x 1280 resolution, 250 PPI, and adaptive 120Hz refresh rate. That makes scrolling, reading, and general navigation feel noticeably smoother than on many similarly priced tablets.

According to techno.viva.co.id, based on Xiaomi Indonesia’s official page, the display also reaches 600 nits in outdoor mode and carries TÜV Rheinland eye protection certification. Even so, user feedback points to one visible compromise: viewing angles are not entirely consistent.

In practice, the image can look less stable when viewed from certain angles. Sharpness and color accuracy remain the main strengths, but the panel still shows the limits expected from an entry-level device.

Hardware is enough for routine tasks, not heavy gaming

Redmi Pad 2 uses the Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2 chipset built on a 6nm process, paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. This setup is adequate for school tasks, streaming video, basic app use, and routine productivity work.

The tablet also includes integrated 4G LTE support and a MicroSD slot that can expand storage up to 2TB. The limitation appears when multitasking becomes heavier, because 4GB of RAM can feel restrictive with multiple apps open at once.

The Adreno 610 GPU makes the performance boundary even clearer. It is not designed for demanding titles such as Genshin Impact, so this is better seen as an everyday tablet than a gaming-focused device.

Battery life is strong, charging remains slow

Xiaomi equips the tablet with a 7,600 mAh battery, and the efficiency of the 6nm chipset helps it last longer between charges. In video playback tests cited by Xiaomi, the device can reach up to 15 hours of continuous use.

The weakness is charging speed. The 18W fast-charging support means refilling the battery takes longer than many users would want, especially those who move between tasks quickly.

The standard package also does not include a built-in screen protector, so buyers who plan to keep the tablet for a long time may want to add extra protection separately.

At Rp2.399.000, Redmi Pad 2 remains compelling for buyers who care most about display quality and a balanced set of basic features. The trade-off is straightforward: it delivers a strong screen and useful everyday tools, but it does not hide its limits in multitasking, gaming, or charging speed.
