Insta360 X6 Packs 8K 360° and 120MP Into a Smaller Body

Insta360 X6 is shaping up to be a rare kind of upgrade: smaller on the outside, but far more ambitious on the inside. Leaks gathered by www.gizmochina.com suggest the next 360 camera will shrink the body while pushing harder on image quality, battery life, and video flexibility.

The biggest draw is the new imaging setup. The camera is said to use two 1/1.1-inch 42MP sensors, which in 360 mode can produce photos up to 120MP, while 10-bit color, Dolby Vision, and I-Log should give creators more room in post-production.

Image Quality Gets the Main Upgrade

For users who shoot in difficult lighting, Adaptive Tone 2.0 is also said to be part of the package. That matters for a 360 camera, where highlights and shadows often have to stay balanced in a single frame.

Video specs appear equally aggressive. The X6 is reported to record 360-degree footage at up to 8K 50fps, which would allow half-speed slow motion while keeping the resolution high.

There is also a PureVideo 360 mode said to support 8K 30fps. For single-lens use, the camera may offer 5K 60fps or 4K 120fps, and a full 360 timelapse mode is reportedly set to reach 11K.

More Ways to Shoot, Less Room Taken

That spread of modes suggests Insta360 is not only chasing headline resolution. It is also trying to cover fast action, creative framing, and high-resolution timelapse work with one device.

The hardware package also appears more refined. The device is said to feature an OLED touchscreen with up to 1200 nits of brightness, while the body is estimated at about 10 cm long, 5 cm wide, and under 4 cm thick.

Even with that smaller footprint, the camera is still expected to weigh around 195 grams. Its battery is another key talking point, with a 2600mAh pack reportedly good for up to 233 minutes of recording.

Smaller Body, Bigger Battery

That combination is notable because smaller cameras often have to compromise on endurance. In the case of the X6, the leaked figures point to a product that tries to do the opposite.

Pricing is also moving upward. The base version is expected to cost around €700 in Europe, while the Essentials bundle could approach €800.

Insta360 has not announced an official launch date yet, but the leaked specifications already make X6 one of the most closely watched 360 camera releases on the horizon.
