Tecno Pova 8 5G Brings an 8,000 mAh Battery, But the Rear Dot-Matrix Screen Steals the Show

Tecno Pova 8 5G arrives in Indonesia with a combination that is still uncommon in its class: an 8,000 mAh battery and a rear dot-matrix mini display. The device is positioned for users who want long endurance, stable connectivity, and a design that looks different from most smartphones.

The most distinctive part is the Alive Matrix Display on the back, placed inside the camera module. It can show interactive lighting effects for incoming calls, notifications, music playback, gaming, and charging.

This mini display supports around 49 lighting scenarios and can also be customized with user-made animation patterns. That gives the phone a more personal look without relying only on the main screen or the camera design.

Battery life is the biggest upgrade

The battery is the clearest step up from the previous Pova 7 5G, which carried a 6,000 mAh cell. Tecno says the new 8,000 mAh battery is the largest ever used in the Pova series.

Under normal use, Tecno claims the phone can last up to two days on a single charge. The company also lists endurance figures of up to 60 hours of calls, 85 hours of music, 29 hours of YouTube, 26 hours of WhatsApp, and 14 hours of Mobile Legends.

Charging support includes 45 watt fast charging, Bypass Charging, and 10 watt reverse charging. Tecno also says the battery is built to remain reliable in extreme temperatures.

Performance and screen are built for gaming

On the performance side, Tecno Pova 8 5G uses the MediaTek Dimensity 7100 paired with the G1 Signal Enhanced chip and SE1 WiFi Enhanced. The combination is aimed at keeping connections stable, including in basements, crowded areas, and open spaces.

The phone also ships with LPDDR5X RAM of up to 8 GB and 256 GB of UFS 2.2 storage. Heat management is handled with a 15,000 square mm graphite sheet, while performance claims include stable frame rates of up to 90 FPS in games such as Mobile Legends Bang Bang and Honor of Kings.
