A UWB Certification Clue Points to Xiaomi 18 Pro’s Ambitious Premium Upgrade

A Xiaomi device identified as M154FF has appeared in China’s SRRC certification database with ultra-wideband, or UWB, support. The listing has fuelled speculation that the device could be the Xiaomi 18 Pro, a model expected to sit at the top of the upcoming series.

Digital Chat Station has identified M154FF as a possible Xiaomi 18 Pro, although Xiaomi has not confirmed the device’s identity. The UWB entry stands out because the short-range technology offers high-precision communication and is typically associated with higher-end phones.

The certification also lists support for the 5G N79 band. Together, 5G N79 and UWB provide a stronger indication of a premium-focused device than a model number alone.

Rumoured Hardware Points to a Major Step Up

The alleged Xiaomi 18 Pro is also said to be in testing with a flagship 2nm chipset. Digital Chat Station previously suggested that the platform could be the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, which is expected to launch in September before the phone’s introduction.

Neither the chipset name nor the final configuration has been confirmed. Still, a 2nm platform would represent a significant hardware shift if Xiaomi brings it to the Pro model.

Camera hardware is another area where the phone could change direction. The Xiaomi 18 Pro is rumoured to use two 200MP sensors, one for the main camera and another for the telephoto camera.

Details such as the sensor types, lens apertures, zoom capability, and image processing remain unavailable. Those missing specifications mean the dual-200MP configuration should still be treated as an early claim rather than a final product specification.

Battery and Display Could Reinforce Its Premium Positioning

The device is reportedly being tested with a battery in the 7,000mAh class. It is also said to support 100W wired charging and 100W wireless charging, though Xiaomi has yet to announce either figure.

Other reported features include a custom display with high clarity, large rounded corners, and slim, uniform bezels on all four sides. The design points to a cleaner front appearance intended to strengthen the phone’s premium feel.

Gizmochina has also reported the possible inclusion of dual stereo speakers, a larger vibration motor, and a Samsung-style display privacy feature. The exact implementation of the privacy function and the haptic upgrade has not been detailed.

How It Could Differ from Xiaomi 17 Pro

Xiaomi 17 Pro was introduced in September with a starting price of 4,999 yuan. It was the first phone powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and included 100W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, a rear Magic Screen, and three Leica 50MP cameras led by the Light Hunter 950L sensor.

The newer rumour suggests that Xiaomi may raise battery capacity, wireless charging power, and camera resolution for its next Pro model. However, the reported camera arrangement would differ from the triple-camera Leica system used on Xiaomi 17 Pro.

Launch Timing Remains Unconfirmed

An SRRC certification is an important stage before a device reaches the market, but it does not establish a release date. Xiaomi has not announced the Xiaomi 18 series or confirmed that M154FF belongs to the Xiaomi 18 Pro.

Reports currently point to a possible September unveiling, but official confirmation will be needed to verify the model number, launch schedule, and final hardware. Until then, UWB remains the clearest certified clue about Xiaomi’s next possible premium handset.
