A 5G Shift for Lenovo’s Legion Y700 Infinite, With OLED in the Rumored Upgrade

Lenovo is reportedly preparing the Legion Y700 Infinite as a premium gaming tablet with two major changes: an OLED display and 5G connectivity. If the information proves accurate, the device would move the Y700 series beyond its previous reliance on IPS LCD panels and Wi-Fi-only connections.

The tablet is said to be scheduled for a China launch in August 2026. Lenovo has not announced pricing, final specifications, or global availability, so the reported details remain unconfirmed.

5G Could Change Where the Tablet Is Used

Cellular connectivity could be the most consequential addition for the Legion Y700 Infinite. Earlier Legion Y700 generations have relied on Wi-Fi for online gaming, video streaming, and cloud gaming services.

A leak from Digital Chat Station on Weibo, cited by gadget.viva.co.id, points to a 5G modem with dual-SIM standby. The reported arrangement includes one physical SIM, one eSIM, and compatibility with the N79 5G band.

Lenovo is also rumored to be developing a smart multi-antenna system for more stable reception. That design would matter during long landscape gaming sessions, when users’ hands can cover different areas of a tablet.

OLED Display and Flagship-Class Processing

The device is expected to use an 8-inch OLED display in place of the IPS LCD panel used by earlier models. OLED technology can provide richer colors, higher contrast, deeper black levels, and potentially better efficiency with dark-themed content.

A centered punch-hole front camera is also rumored for the upper display area. This approach would give the tablet a more modern appearance while preserving a wide viewing area for games and multimedia.

For performance, the Legion Y700 Infinite is said to use an overclocked Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. The chipset is reported to reach CPU speeds of up to 4.74GHz for AAA games, creative applications, and demanding multitasking.

The Legion line is known for using cooling systems to support extended gaming use. That foundation suggests the Infinite model is being positioned to sustain high performance over longer sessions.

Memory Options up to 24GB and 1TB

Four memory and storage configurations are reportedly being prepared for the tablet. The highest version would combine 24GB of RAM with 1TB of internal storage, placing it among the larger configurations in the Android tablet segment.

Variant RAM Storage
1 12GB 256GB
2 16GB 512GB
3 24GB 512GB
4 24GB 1TB

These options could appeal to users storing large game libraries, heavy applications, video projects, or other files. There is no information yet on the price difference or market availability for each configuration.

Lighter Build, 50MP Camera, and RGB Lighting

The Legion Y700 Infinite is rumored to weigh around 310 grams. That would make it roughly 50 grams lighter than the standard Legion Y700 Gen 5, potentially improving comfort during prolonged two-handed use.

A 50MP rear camera is also mentioned in the leak. While gaming remains the tablet’s primary purpose, the camera could handle practical tasks such as document scanning, photography, and video recording.

RGB lighting on the rear is expected to reinforce the device’s gaming identity. The lighting is said to be customizable, allowing users to adjust the visual character of the tablet.

For context, the Legion Y700 Gen 5 features an 8.8-inch display with a 165Hz refresh rate and a 9,000mAh battery. The Infinite variant appears intended to build on that foundation with OLED, cellular access, and expanded memory options.

The reported combination could place the tablet against the Red Magic Gaming Tablet 5 Pro, which is sold globally as the Red Magic Astra 2. Full specifications, pricing, and plans for markets outside China still await an official Lenovo announcement.
