Google May Give the Pixel 11a Tensor G6, Ending a Long-Standing Trade-Off

Google may bring a much newer processor to the Pixel 11a, a move that could change one of the most persistent compromises in its mid-range phone line. A new leak points to Tensor G6 rather than an older-generation chip for the upcoming device.

The claim remains unconfirmed, but it stands out after the Pixel 10a drew criticism for retaining Tensor G4. Moving the Pixel 11a to the same chip generation as the Pixel 11 family could make the generational upgrade more meaningful.

A New Chip, Possibly a Different Version

GSMArena reported that leaker Mystic Leaks shared details believed to concern the Pixel 11a, which is reportedly codenamed “Formosan”. The phone is expected to arrive several months after the main Pixel 11 lineup.

The Pixel 11a may not receive an identical Tensor G6 configuration to the regular Pixel 11 models. Google could reportedly use a lower-binned version, meaning its raw performance may still differ from the flagship phones.

Tensor G6 has been associated with the main Pixel 11 series and may become the first official chip based on a 2 nm process. That manufacturing detail, however, has been linked to the main Pixel 11 family rather than specifically confirmed for the Pixel 11a.

Component Leaked Pixel 11a Detail Pixel 10a Context
Chipset Tensor G6, possibly lower-binned Tensor G4
Memory 8 GB base configuration Not specified
Battery At least 4,870 mAh 5,100 mAh typical capacity
Display 6.30-inch, 1080p, HDR support Not specified

Display Figures Point to a Brighter Panel

The leak also describes a 6.30-inch 1080p display with official HDR support. It is said to reach 2,250 nits of maximum brightness and as much as 3,350 nits at peak brightness.

If accurate, those figures would make the screen one of the more notable parts of the device. The panel type, refresh rate, and display protection have not been disclosed.

The handset is expected to start with 8 GB of RAM. There are no details yet on storage options or additional memory configurations.

Battery Rating Needs Further Clarification

The reported battery figure of at least 4,870 mAh may not be the number Google ultimately uses in promotional material. Minimum capacity and typical capacity are separate measurements, with the latter more commonly highlighted by manufacturers.

As a result, the Pixel 11a could retain the Pixel 10a’s 5,100 mAh typical capacity or use a slightly lower typical figure. Charging specifications were not included in the reported information.

The phone is also said to use the Titan M3 security chip found in the Pixel 11 family. Further details about security functions or changes enabled by that component have not emerged.

Front Camera and Colour Options

A new front camera may also be planned for the Pixel 11a, although the only current clue is the codename “dokkaebi”. Its resolution, sensor, and capabilities remain unknown.

The device is expected in black, green, purple, and silver. Official marketing names for those colours and their availability by region have not been confirmed.

The main Pixel 11 family is scheduled to be introduced on August 12, while the Pixel 11a is expected around March 2027. Until Google makes an official announcement, the processor, display, battery, and camera details should be treated as leak-based information.
