Three 50 MP Cameras Push Motorola Razr Fold to the Top of DXOMARK Foldables

Motorola Razr Fold has reached a camera score of 164 and taken the top position in DXOMARK’s global ranking for launched foldable and flip smartphones. The result gives Motorola a strong camera-focused argument in a segment where imaging quality can influence buying decisions.

The device combines a large foldable display with a rear camera system built around three 50 MP sensors. That configuration includes a main camera, an ultrawide camera, and a periscope telephoto camera.

Camera Hardware Built for Different Shooting Needs

Ultrawide camera50 MP122-degree field of view, autofocus, macro
Periscope telephoto50 MP Sony LYTIA 6003x optical zoom, up to 100x digital zoom

The main camera uses a Sony LYTIA 828 sensor with an f/1.6 aperture, autofocus, and optical image stabilization. It serves as the primary camera for photography and video in varying lighting conditions.

Its 50 MP ultrawide camera offers a 122-degree field of view and autofocus support. The same camera can also be used for close-up photography through macro mode.

For longer-range shooting, Motorola uses a 50 MP periscope telephoto camera based on the Sony LYTIA 600 sensor. It provides 3x optical zoom and digital magnification of up to 100x.

The handset also includes a 32 MP internal front camera and a 20 MP front camera on the cover display. The use of Sony LYTIA sensors for both the main and periscope cameras remains relatively uncommon among foldable devices.

8K Recording and Wider Dynamic Range

Motorola Razr Fold can record video at up to 8K resolution at 30 fps through its main camera. It also supports 4K recording at 60 fps and 4K slow-motion video at 120 fps.

Dolby Vision support is available on the main and periscope telephoto cameras. The feature is intended to preserve a wider range of brightness between bright and dark areas within a frame.

Zulfahmi, Product Portfolio Head of Motorola Indonesia, said the company wants to offer a foldable device with flagship-level camera capabilities. He said consumers should receive not only a distinctive design and style, but also competitive camera features.

According to Zulfahmi, the combination of Dolby Vision and the Sony LYTIA 828 sensor delivers dynamic range up to six times wider than typical camera systems. The company positions the capability for users who regularly create video content and need detail and colour to remain preserved.

The main camera’s OIS system offers shake compensation of up to 3.5 degrees. This is designed to reduce camera movement when photos or videos are captured without a tripod.

AI Features for Faster Moments

The camera system includes Zero Shutter Lag, AI-powered Portrait, AI Action Shot, and AI Photo Enhancement Engine. AI Action Shot is intended to help capture fast-moving subjects, while the enhancement engine processes detail, colour, and lighting after a photo is taken.

Zero Shutter Lag is designed to reduce the interruption caused by shutter delay. These tools shift the focus beyond sensor resolution toward image processing and moment capture.

Outside the camera system, the phone has an 8.1-inch LTPO 2K main display with a 120 Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 6,200 nits. Its 6.6-inch cover display reaches 165 Hz, carries a 2,520 x 1,080-pixel resolution, and offers brightness of up to 6,000 nits.

Both displays support Dolby Vision and HDR10+, while the device uses a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor, 12 GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and 256 GB of internal storage. A 6,000 mAh battery supports 80-watt wired charging and 50-watt wireless charging.

Motorola Razr Fold is sold in Indonesia for around Rp 25.5 million, with Pantone Blackened Blue and Pantone Lily White colour options. The pricing places it in the premium foldable category, where its DXOMARK result and camera hardware form a central part of its appeal.
