Samsung’s next clamshell foldable may deliver a noticeably slimmer body without changing two of its most important hardware areas. Rumoured details indicate that the Galaxy Z Flip 8 could retain a 50 MP main camera and a 4,300 mAh battery despite a lighter design.
The device is said to weigh 180 grams, compared with 188 grams for the Galaxy Z Flip 7. It may measure 6.1 mm when unfolded and about 13.2 mm when folded.
That combination would make design refinement the central upgrade for the Galaxy Z Flip 8. A lower weight could improve portability while preserving the compact clamshell format that defines the series.
Camera and Battery May See No Major Change
The rumoured rear camera system consists of a 50 MP primary camera and a 12 MP ultra-wide camera. Samsung is also expected to keep a 10 MP front-facing camera.
Battery capacity is said to remain at 4,300 mAh, with 25W charging support. These specifications suggest that Samsung may prioritise form factor, display improvements and processing performance over a major camera or battery upgrade.
| Feature | Galaxy Z Flip 8 Rumour | Galaxy Z Flip 7 |
|---|---|---|
| Weight | 180 grams | 188 grams |
| Unfolded thickness | 6.1 mm | Not stated |
| Rear cameras | 50 MP + 12 MP | Potentially unchanged |
| Battery | 4,300 mAh | Potentially unchanged |
Display Upgrades Could Be More Significant
The foldable main display is rumoured to measure 6.9 inches and support an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate. Peak brightness could reach 2,600 nits.
Samsung may also retain the 4.1-inch cover screen while raising its refresh rate to 120Hz. Such a change could make scrolling and interactions on the outer display feel smoother than on the previous generation.
According to information reported by Gadgets360, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 may use different processors depending on the market. Models for the United States and China are expected to receive the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, while Europe and India may get the 2 nm Exynos 2600.
| Market | Rumoured Chipset | Memory Options |
|---|---|---|
| United States and China | Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 | 12 GB RAM, 256 GB or 512 GB |
| Europe and India | Exynos 2600 2 nm | 12 GB RAM, 256 GB or 512 GB |
LPDDR5X RAM with 12 GB capacity is expected to be standard across the line. Storage choices are rumoured to include 256 GB and 512 GB, using UFS 4.1 technology.
European Pricing May Rise
In Europe, the 256 GB model is reportedly expected to cost EUR 1.299, while the 512 GB version may reach EUR 1.499. For comparison, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 launched at EUR 1.199 for the 256 GB model in Europe.
The handset is also expected to ship with Android 17 and One UI 9. Samsung may offer up to seven years of operating system updates, although this policy has not been officially confirmed for the device.
Samsung has confirmed a Galaxy Unpacked event for 22 July in London, beginning at 14:00 BST or 18:30 IST. The Galaxy Z Flip 8 is expected to appear alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2.
All specifications, regional configurations and prices remain unconfirmed until Samsung makes its formal announcement. The launch event should clarify whether the thinner build will arrive without changes to the camera and battery hardware.
