Helio G99 vs G100 vs G200: Same Specs but Different GPUs? A Clear Comparison

MediaTek’s Helio G99, G100, and G200 chipsets share many similarities on paper, but differences arise when looking at the GPU specifications. All three chipsets feature a 6nm fabrication process with the same CPU configuration: two performance cores Cortex-A76 and six efficiency cores Cortex-A55. This means the CPU performance across these chipsets is nearly identical.

The distinction becomes clearer in the GPU department. Both Helio G99 and G100 employ the Mali-G57 MC2 GPU clocked at 1 GHz. Meanwhile, the Helio G200 steps up with the same GPU model but with a slightly higher clock speed of 1.1 GHz. This boost results in about a 6 percent increase in AnTuTu benchmark scores, with the G200 reaching around 457,000 points, outperforming the G100 notably.

Camera capabilities also show differences. The Helio G99 supports up to 108MP sensors, whereas the G100 and G200 can handle camera sensors up to 200MP. The Helio G200 further adds value by supporting sharper HDR features, implementing dual conversion gain (DCG) technology, and offering faster focusing speeds. It also supports video recording at 2K resolution with 30 frames per second, making it a better choice for users interested in photography and videography.

When it comes to network connectivity, all three chipsets support 4G networks and do not include 5G capabilities. However, the Helio G200 includes network optimizations that reduce latency by up to 30 percent. It also boasts wider signal coverage and more stable connections, contributing to improved overall user experience in mobile connectivity.

Here is a brief comparison table summarizing the key differences:

1. Fabrication: All use 6nm technology
2. CPU: 2x Cortex-A76 + 6x Cortex-A55 (same across all)
3. GPU: G99 & G100 – Mali-G57 MC2 @1.0 GHz; G200 – Mali-G57 MC2 @1.1 GHz
4. Camera Support: G99 – up to 108MP; G100 & G200 – up to 200MP
5. Special Camera Features: G200 supports HDR, DCG, faster focus, 2K @30fps video
6. Network: All 4G; G200 has reduced latency, wider coverage, and better stability

MediaTek released these chipsets across different years, with the Helio G99 debuting in May 2022, followed by the G100 in August 2024, and the G200 launched in May 2025. The incremental improvements highlight MediaTek’s strategy to refine GPU performance and camera functionalities while maintaining similar CPU architectures.

Though the chipsets share a similar core structure, the GPU enhancements in the Helio G200 provide a tangible performance lift. This aspect is important for users prioritizing gaming and multimedia experiences. Similarly, the advanced photography and video capabilities of the G200 set it apart from its predecessors.

In summary, while the Helio G99, G100, and G200 chipsets appear quite similar on paper, the differences in GPU clock speed, camera support, and network optimizations make the G200 a more compelling choice for users demanding better visual and connectivity performance. If you are deciding on a phone powered by these chipsets, focusing on GPU and camera features will help distinguish which one suits your needs better.
