Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Launches Nov 26 with 3nm Oryon CPU and Enhanced Flagship Performance

Qualcomm has officially set the release date for its latest flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. The company announced on its official Weibo account that the launch will take place on November 26, 2025, in China.

This new chipset is positioned just below the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 variant yet targets the high-end flagship smartphone market. It introduces several important technical updates, from manufacturing technology to CPU architecture.

3nm Fabrication Process and Oryon CPU Architecture
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 is built on a 3nm fabrication process, which promises better energy efficiency and performance improvements over previous generations. Qualcomm introduces its custom Oryon CPU architecture for the first time with this chipset.

Its CPU configuration includes a single prime core operating up to 3.8 GHz, accompanied by multiple performance cores running at 3.32 GHz. This setup is designed to deliver flagship-level processing power, especially for multitasking and high-demand applications.

Adreno 840 GPU and Benchmark Performance
On the graphics side, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 is equipped with the Adreno 840 GPU, which uses similar technology to the Elite variant but with adjusted clock speeds. The GPU runs around 1.2 GHz, targeting high-end mobile gaming experiences.

Early benchmark leaks indicate impressive results. AnTuTu scores reportedly exceed 3.3 million points, while Geekbench 6 tests show roughly 3,000 for single-core and 10,000 for multi-core CPU performance. In 1440p Aztec graphical tests, the chipset achieves close to 100 frames per second.

Overall, the CPU performance approaches that of the previous Snapdragon 8 Elite generation, while the GPU is slightly lower but remains firmly in the flagship category.

First Smartphones Featuring Snapdragon 8 Gen 5
Several manufacturers have already announced plans to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 for their new devices. These include:

  1. OnePlus Ace 6T, launching in November 2025
  2. Vivo S50 Pro Mini, expected in December 2025
  3. Honor GT 2, anticipated for late 2025 or early 2026

The arrival of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 underscores Qualcomm’s commitment to reinforcing its premium chipset lineup. It also intensifies competition in the high-end smartphone segment towards the end of the year.

By adopting advanced manufacturing and innovative CPU design, Qualcomm aims to meet growing demands for power efficiency and performance in flagship devices. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 is poised to be a critical component in flagship smartphones set to debut in the near future.
