Huawei has brought the Mate 80 Pro back to Indonesia, positioning the device as a premium flagship built to stand out in both imaging and durability. The phone carries a starting price of Rp16.999.000 and puts strong emphasis on its 50MP camera system, reinforced body, and high-end design.
The return comes after Huawei’s Mate flagship line had been absent from the Indonesian market for more than three years. At its Jakarta launch, the brand highlighted two main selling points: color-accurate photography and a body engineered for tougher protection in everyday use.
Camera system built around color accuracy
The strongest attention around the Mate 80 Pro goes to its 50MP True-to-Colour Camera setup. Huawei says the device uses True-to-Colour Camera 2.0, a system designed to keep colors natural and consistent across different lighting conditions.
The main camera uses a 50MP Ultra Lighting Camera sensor with a 1/1.28-inch size and RYYB technology. The larger sensor is intended to capture more light, which should help maintain image sharpness even in low-light environments.
Huawei Device Indonesia Senior Retail Manager Edy Supartono said the larger sensor size allows the Mate 80 Pro to produce sharp images with complex color combinations. The main camera also includes a variable aperture of F1.4–F4.0 and OIS to support more stable results in different shooting situations.
More flexibility for zoom and close-up shots
Beyond the main camera, Huawei equips the Mate 80 Pro with a 48MP Macro Telephoto camera that offers 4x optical zoom. The same camera can also be used for macro photography from as close as 5 cm, giving users more options for capturing small details.
An additional 40MP Ultra-Wide camera expands the field of view for wider scenes. Huawei also mentions newer imaging technology aimed at keeping colors close to their original appearance, while AI Composition is included to help keep photo framing balanced without complicated adjustments.
Durability is also part of the message
Huawei is not only selling the Mate 80 Pro as a camera-focused device. The company also stresses its physical toughness through the “Engineered to Outlast” concept, which centers on stronger protection for long-term use.
The phone uses second-generation Kunlun Glass, which Huawei claims is up to 20 times stronger than ordinary glass. That protection is paired with Super Durable Architecture, adding another layer to the durability story the company wants to emphasize.
The device also carries IP68 and IP69 certification. According to the launch information, IP68 allows water resistance up to 6 meters, while IP69 supports resistance to high-pressure water and extreme temperatures ranging from -20°C to 80°C.
Premium design remains a key part of the line
Huawei keeps the Mate series identity through the Iconic Dual Space Ring Design, which makes the rear camera module stand out clearly. The back panel uses Vegan Fibre material, giving the phone a premium feel while supporting the device’s stronger character.
On the front, the Mate 80 Pro comes with a 6.75-inch display, thin bezels, and a flat-edged design. The shape is meant to provide a wide viewing area while still feeling comfortable to hold.
Huawei offers the Mate 80 Pro in three color choices in Indonesia: black, gold, and green. The lineup reflects the phone’s premium positioning and its focus on users who want a more elegant flagship look.
With a 50MP True-to-Colour 2.0 camera system, a 48MP telephoto macro lens, second-generation Kunlun Glass, and IP68 plus IP69 protection, the Huawei Mate 80 Pro returns as a flagship that combines photography, durability, and premium styling in one package for the Indonesian market.
