Huawei is preparing a new foldable phone called the Pura X Max, and the device is set to launch in China on 20 April alongside the Pura 90 Pro series. The model has already drawn attention before its debut because Huawei is taking a different design direction from the typical book-style foldable format.
Pre-orders are already open through Huawei’s official store in China. Early information has also surfaced about the phone’s body shape, color options, and memory configurations, giving a fairly clear picture of how Huawei wants the Pura X Max to stand out even before the official unveiling.
A wider format than most foldables
The Pura X Max does not follow the long and slim profile usually associated with book-style foldables. Instead, Huawei appears to have opted for a broader body, making the device look distinct in a category where many products share similar proportions.
Leaked information suggests that the main display measures 7.69 inches with a 16:10 aspect ratio. The inner screen is said to measure 5.5 inches, reinforcing the impression that Huawei is prioritizing a more spacious viewing experience when the device is opened.
That approach suggests the Pura X Max is not simply another foldable with a familiar formula. Huawei seems to be positioning it as an alternative for users who want a wider screen area and a different kind of on-device experience.
Dual-texture back and oval camera module
The rear panel of the Pura X Max is also designed to look unconventional. Huawei uses a dual-texture concept, with one side of the body finished smoothly and the other side featuring a striped pattern that creates a stronger visual contrast.
At the top rear section, Huawei places a horizontal oval, or pill-shaped, camera module. The module houses three cameras, while the Huawei logo sits vertically near the bottom of the device.
Another detail that stands out is the hinge side, where the Huawei name is printed vertically and becomes visible when the phone is opened. This adds another layer to the device’s identity and gives the foldable a more recognizable design language.
Selfie cameras on both displays
Huawei also equips the Pura X Max with selfie cameras on both sides of the foldable setup. One front-facing camera is available on the outer cover screen, while another is placed on the main inner display.
This arrangement gives users more flexibility depending on whether the phone is folded or unfolded. It also reduces the need to rely on a single screen position when taking self-portraits, which fits the broader usage style Huawei appears to be aiming for with this model.
Color options and storage variants
According to information cited by GSMArena, the Pura X Max will be offered in five color choices. The available options are Interstellar Blue, Ollive Gold, Phantom Night Black, Vibrant Orange, and Zero Degree White.
Huawei is also preparing several memory variants. The configurations listed include 12/256 GB, 12/512 GB, 16/512 GB, and 16/1 TB, giving the device a wide range of storage and RAM combinations for different user needs.
The list of options shows that Huawei is not only focusing on exterior design. It is also giving the model a broad lineup of memory choices, which often helps a device appeal to a wider segment of users.
Chipset details remain unconfirmed
Huawei has not officially revealed the internal hardware of the Pura X Max yet. Even so, circulating information points to a possible flagship Kirin 9030 chipset.
Until Huawei shares full specifications, the device’s core performance setup remains under wraps. Still, the details already available indicate that Huawei wants the Pura X Max to be more than a simple design experiment, with a launch that will test how well its wider foldable form, dual-texture back, and dual selfie-camera setup can differentiate it in the Chinese market.
