Tecno Pop X 5G Debuts In India, Pixel-Like Camera Bar And 6,500 mAh Battery At Entry-Level Price

Tecno has widened its entry-level 5G lineup in India with the Pop X 5G, a phone that stands out first through its rear design. The device uses a horizontal pill-shaped camera module that brings to mind the visual language of Google Pixel, but Tecno applies it in a more minimal form with a single rear camera and a clean back panel.

That design choice is one of the phone’s main selling points, especially in a segment where affordable models often look plain. Tecno describes the rear layout as a “camera visor” made with aerospace-grade aluminum, and the module houses a 13 MP main camera together with an LED flash.

A familiar-looking rear, but with a simpler approach

Rather than filling the back with multiple lenses, Tecno keeps the Pop X 5G focused on one primary camera. The result is a layout that looks tidier and gives the device a more distinctive identity than many phones in the same price class.

The horizontal module helps the phone avoid the typical low-cost design pattern. Even with the Pixel-like inspiration, the implementation remains modest and functional, which is in line with the phone’s position as an affordable 5G model.

Large display with a 120 Hz refresh rate

On the front, the Tecno Pop X 5G comes with a 6.78-inch IPS LCD display. The panel carries an HD Plus resolution of 720 x 1,576 pixels and supports a 120 Hz refresh rate.

That refresh rate is aimed at making everyday movement on screen feel smoother, especially during scrolling and navigation. Tecno also states that the display reaches 560 nits of brightness, while the 8 MP front camera sits in a punch-hole cutout to preserve a spacious viewing area.

Dimensity 6400 powers the device

For performance, Tecno uses the MediaTek Dimensity 6400 chipset. The phone is offered with 4 GB or 6 GB of RAM, paired with 128 GB of internal storage.

This configuration places the Pop X 5G in the category of basic 5G phones intended for daily communication, light entertainment, and routine tasks. The storage capacity is also relatively generous for an entry-level device, giving users more room for apps and media.

Battery life is a major focus

One of the most prominent specifications is the battery. The Tecno Pop X 5G carries a 6,500 mAh battery and supports 45 W fast charging.

That combination makes the phone appealing to users who prioritize long endurance and do not want to charge too often. Despite the large battery, Tecno keeps the body at 8.2 mm thick, so the phone still aims to remain fairly slim for its class.

Software and extra features

The device runs Android 16 with HiOS 16 on top. Tecno also equips the Pop X 5G with IP64 certification, which adds protection against dust and splashes.

Other included features are an in-frame fingerprint sensor, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, dual SIM support with microSD expansion, AI-based productivity tools, and FreeLink for Tecno-to-Tecno communication without cellular networks.

India pricing and market position

In India, the Tecno Pop X 5G starts at 15,999 rupees for the 4/128 GB version. The 6/128 GB variant is priced at 17,999 rupees.

At those prices, Tecno positions the Pop X 5G as a budget-friendly 5G option that tries to stand out through design, battery capacity, and a feature set that remains competitive in the entry-level segment. There is still no official word on whether the model will be sold in Indonesia, so local buyers will have to wait for Tecno’s next move.
