OPPO’s Reno lineup is preparing for another major update, and early details about the Reno 16 series are already drawing attention. The most discussed point is the compact Reno 16, which is tipped to pair a 200MP camera with a 7,000mAh battery, while the Pro model is expected to carry a larger display and a more ambitious hardware setup.
The company has also begun to show stronger signs that the launch is approaching. A first official teaser for the Reno 16 has appeared in China, and pre-orders have opened there as well, suggesting that preparations are entering the final stage for the domestic market.
Launch window and rollout plan
Current information points to a China debut in May 2026, followed by a wider global release around July 2026. For now, OPPO appears to be prioritizing other products in different regions, including the Find X9 Ultra and Find X9s, which are expected to arrive in the coming weeks.
That timing leaves the Reno 16 series positioned as a later addition to OPPO’s lineup, rather than an immediate global priority. Even so, the early teaser activity indicates that the brand is already building momentum for the new phones in its home market.
Two models, two different sizes
Leaks suggest that OPPO is preparing two versions: the Reno 16 and the Reno 16 Pro. The standard model is said to be the more compact device, built around a 6.32-inch screen.
The Pro version is expected to move up to a 6.78-inch LTPO OLED panel with 1.5K resolution. Both displays are rumored to be flat and surrounded by very slim bezels, a design choice that would give the phones a cleaner look while keeping the larger model manageable in hand.
New chipsets for the next Reno generation
Performance also appears to be getting a clear refresh. The Reno 16 is said to use the Dimensity 8500 chipset, while the Reno 16 Pro may step up to the Dimensity 9500s.
If the leak proves accurate, both devices are likely to run ColorOS 16.1 based on Android 16. That would place the series among the earlier OPPO phones to offer the company’s latest software experience in this segment.
Camera system led by a 200MP sensor
The camera setup is one of the most notable parts of the leaked specification sheet. The Reno 16 Pro is said to feature a 200MP main camera, supported by an ultra-wide lens and a periscope telephoto camera.
Details for the regular Reno 16 have not been clearly revealed yet. Even so, the available report suggests it may still share a similar overall camera direction with the Pro model, though likely with different sensors.
Battery size and memory options
Battery information for the standard Reno 16 has not surfaced so far. The Reno 16 Pro, however, is reported to include a battery of around 7,000mAh, which would be a significant figure for a device in this class if confirmed.
Memory configurations for the Pro model also look broad. The reported options include 12GB+256GB, 12GB+512GB, 16GB+256GB, 16GB+512GB, and 16GB+1TB.
Color choices and what remains unknown
The Reno 16 Pro is said to come in white, black, purple, and green. Information on the standard Reno 16 remains limited, with no confirmed details yet on its color lineup or memory variants.
With teaser activity already underway in China, the Reno 16 series is beginning to take shape as a significant upgrade for OPPO’s mid-to-upper smartphone line. The combination of a compact model, a 200MP camera on the Pro, and a large battery suggests that the upcoming launch will focus on balancing design, imaging, and hardware strength.
