Redmi K100 is shaping up to be more than a routine upgrade, with the strongest rumor pointing to a much larger battery and the possible addition of wireless charging on the standard model. That combination could push the phone into a more premium position, but it may also come with a noticeably higher price tag.
According to industry tipster Digital Chat Station, the handset is expected to use a 6.6-inch display, a size that is said to stay close to the Redmi K90. The bigger shift appears to be happening inside the device, where battery capacity and charging options are being pushed further than before.
The most striking claim is a battery capacity of up to 8,500mAh. The company is also said to still be testing an even larger capacity, which suggests endurance is a central focus for the Redmi K100 line.
That would mark a clear jump from the Redmi K90, which arrived with a 7,100mAh battery. If the 8,500mAh figure becomes reality, the increase would be significant for a high-performance phone.
Charging speed is also part of the story. Redmi is said to keep 100W wired charging, while the standard model may add 50W wireless charging for the first time.
A feature usually reserved for higher-end phones
Wireless charging at that level could change how the Redmi K100 is positioned in the market. It is more commonly associated with premium devices, so bringing it to the base model would make the phone feel more complete and possibly more expensive.
That mix of a huge battery, fast wired charging, and wireless charging would give the device a stronger feature set. At the same time, it would also help explain why the expected price may rise sharply.
Earlier reporting indicates that the Redmi K100 may still be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Even so, the starting price is rumored to climb to 4,000 yuan, which would be a major increase from the Redmi K90’s launch price of CNY 2,599.
The gap is especially notable because the chipset is not described as the newest generation. In that scenario, the value proposition would rely heavily on battery capacity, charging flexibility, and the addition of wireless charging.
Broader price pressure may shape the lineup
Pricing pressure is not limited to the base model. Another rumor points to phones using 2nm chips such as the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 starting at 5,000 yuan.
Rising memory costs are said to be one reason behind the trend. Several smartphone makers in China are also reported to have raised prices on some models over the past few months.
That market environment helps explain why a device with familiar core performance could still land at a much higher price point. In such conditions, manufacturers often lean on features that are easier to market, especially those that make a phone stand out at first glance.
The higher-end Redmi K100 Pro Max is also starting to take shape in rumor form. It is said to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and a 200-megapixel main camera with a 1/1.28-inch sensor.
The same model is also rumored to include a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera. Together, those details suggest the Redmi K100 family may be separated not only by performance, but also by camera hardware and feature class.
For now, the Redmi K100 remains in the rumor stage, but the early picture is already clear. A 6.6-inch display, an 8,500mAh battery, 100W wired charging, and the possibility of 50W wireless charging would make it one of the most closely watched Redmi phones ahead of its expected October debut in China.
