Redmi’s next flagship upgrade is shaping up to be far more ambitious than a routine refresh. The latest chatter around Redmi K100 points to a massive 8,500mAh battery and the addition of wireless charging, two changes that would immediately make the device stand out in the lineup.
That combination is especially notable because the Redmi K series has traditionally been associated with strong performance rather than extreme battery capacity or wireless charging support. If the leak proves accurate, Redmi K100 would move closer to a more complete flagship package.
A bigger battery becomes the headline
The specification leak comes from Digital Chat Station on Weibo, with Gizmochina identifying the device as the likely successor to Redmi K90 and the model that will be marketed as Redmi K100. The most eye-catching detail is that Redmi is reportedly still testing even larger battery options for the phone.
That means the currently circulating 8,500mAh figure may not be the final ceiling. Even so, it already suggests a major leap over the previous generation and a clear shift in how Redmi wants to position the series.
For users, that could change the appeal of the K line in a meaningful way. Instead of being seen only as a fast performance-focused device, Redmi K100 may also become a phone built for longer endurance.
Fast charging stays in place
Despite the larger battery, Redmi is said to keep 100W wired fast charging. That decision matters because a bigger battery usually brings concerns about recharge time, and this setup would help offset that drawback.
The pairing of an 8,500mAh battery with 100W charging would give Redmi K100 a strong practical advantage in the premium segment. Users could get extended battery life without giving up short charging times.
The other major addition is 50W wireless fast charging. This feature was not present on Redmi K90, so its arrival on Redmi K100 would represent a meaningful functional upgrade for users who want a more complete charging experience.
Flagship positioning looks stronger
The display is also said to measure 6.6 inches, which keeps the phone in familiar flagship territory. That size suggests Redmi is still aiming for a wide viewing experience rather than a compact design.
Performance should remain a central part of the package as well. Previous leaks point to Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, a Qualcomm flagship chip built on a 3nm process, which signals that Redmi is targeting both efficiency and high-end power.
A large battery combined with a flagship chipset would make sense for users who want strong endurance and heavy daily performance in one device. It also fits the Redmi K series’ reputation for aggressive specifications.
Two models are expected
The Redmi K100 lineup is said to include two versions: Redmi K100 and Redmi K100 Pro Max. The Pro Max model is reportedly set to use Snapdragon 8 Gen 6, a chip that has not been released yet.
That difference suggests a clear tier split inside the series. The regular model appears aimed at the flagship level, while the Pro Max is being prepared for an even higher class of hardware.
Camera upgrades are also on the table
Battery and charging are not the only areas getting attention. The Redmi K100 series is also rumored to bring a more ambitious camera setup, including a 200-megapixel sensor and a new periscope telephoto camera.
That would be a substantial step up from Redmi K90, which came with a 50-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera, and a 50-megapixel telephoto camera. The move toward a 200-megapixel sensor and periscope telephoto hardware suggests Redmi wants the series to compete more seriously in imaging as well.
Redmi K90 launched in China in October last year together with Redmi K90 Pro Max, and the follow-up has been the subject of increasing speculation ever since. The internal codename “Athens” has also been linked to the device, although Xiaomi has not confirmed any of these details yet.
