Casio AQ-240E Delivers Retro Appeal Without The Heavy Feel, Priced At $69.95

Casio has expanded its vintage-style watch lineup in the U.S. with the AQ-240E series, a release that keeps the retro appeal but trims the presentation into something cleaner and more restrained. At $69.95 per model, the line sits in a low-priced category while still offering the familiar analog-digital mix that has long defined many of Casio’s most recognizable designs.

The series does not try to look premium in the conventional sense. Instead, it leans on a familiar rectangular shape and softens it with smoother case and bezel lines, giving the watch a less rigid appearance than older models in the same family.

Three versions, one common base

The AQ-240E lineup consists of three models: AQ240E-2A, AQ240E-4A, and AQ240E-7A2. All three share the same price, the same overall layout, and the same stainless steel bracelet with horizontal links.

Casio also uses a self-adjustable clasp, which makes sizing easier for everyday wear. That choice fits the broader approach of the watch: practical, simple, and aimed at keeping the package accessible.

Dial colors set the tone

The main differences between the models come from the dial color and finish. The AQ240E-2A uses a light blue dial with a sunray finish, which gives it a more reflective and lively look.

The AQ240E-4A takes a different route with a pale orange dial and matte finish. Casio describes the tone as resembling a soft salmon pink, which makes it stand out from more common color choices.

The AQ240E-7A2 is the most understated of the three, using a matte white dial. It is the cleanest option for buyers who prefer a minimal and classic appearance.

Analog-digital layout stays practical

All versions use the same face arrangement. Analog hands handle the main time display, while a small digital screen at 6 o’clock provides the extra functions.

That digital section keeps the feature set useful without making the watch look busy. It includes dual time, a 1/100-second stopwatch, a daily alarm, hourly chime, and a calendar.

This combination is the core appeal of the AQ-240E. The watch delivers a traditional reading experience through the hands, then adds the convenience of digital tools for daily use.

Light build and modest materials

Casio also positions the AQ-240E as a compact and light watch. The case measures 40.9 x 35.8 mm, with an 8.1 mm thickness, and the weight is listed at 51 grams.

The construction choices help keep it that way. The case uses chrome-plated resin rather than solid steel, and the crystal is resin glass made from plastic.

Those materials keep the cost down and support the light feel on the wrist. They also make the AQ-240E better suited to casual daily wear than to more demanding use.

Basic protection, standard battery life

Water resistance is limited to a basic level, enough for rain or hand washing but not designed for swimming. Power comes from a standard SR920W battery.

Casio says battery life can reach around three years, which matches the watch’s straightforward positioning. It is not built to compete with premium metal models or heavy-duty sports watches.

The AQ-240E therefore fills a clear space in Casio’s catalog. It is a small, affordable retro watch that focuses on familiar styling, everyday functions, and a lighter presence rather than expensive materials or advanced specifications.

Its U.S. launch also comes alongside other Casio releases, including an automatic stainless steel watch with three dial options and a rainbow-colored metal G-Shock priced at $880.
