Samsung is broadening the reach of One UI 8.5 far beyond the Galaxy S25 series. After an initial stable rollout in South Korea, the update is now starting to go out globally and is set to reach a wide mix of Galaxy phones, foldables, and tablets.
That wider scope makes the release more notable than a routine version bump. It also shows that Samsung is not limiting the new software to its newest flagship phones, since several older premium models are included as well.
More Galaxy devices are in line
The Galaxy S25 series is the first wave of devices to receive the stable One UI 8.5 build. Samsung is also preparing the update for the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S23 series, including the Fan Edition variants, with rollout expected in the coming days.
Support does not stop there. Samsung is also lining up the update for the Galaxy Z Flip7, Galaxy Z Fold7, Galaxy Z Flip6, and Galaxy Z Fold6.
Tablets are included too
The expansion also covers Samsung’s tablet lineup. The Galaxy Tab S10 series and Galaxy Tab S11 series are among the devices slated to get One UI 8.5.
That broader list suggests Samsung wants the new software to land across more of its Galaxy ecosystem, not just on phones that launched recently. For users on supported tablets and foldables, the update should bring the same software direction across different device categories.
Galaxy AI takes the main spotlight
Although the version number only moves up by one step, One UI 8.5 carries a meaningful set of changes. Samsung has added modest interface refreshes, but the bigger push remains centered on Galaxy AI.
The company is bringing stronger tools for image creation and editing. It is also extending AI functions into more everyday use cases, which should make the Galaxy experience feel more complete for supported users.
Bixby is part of that push as well, with improvements aimed at making the assistant work more intelligently. Samsung is also deepening its integration with Perplexity AI, signaling a wider AI ecosystem beyond its own built-in assistant.
Camera tools get notable upgrades
The camera side of One UI 8.5 is one of the most visible parts of the update. Samsung is adding a Document scan feature designed to simplify scanning directly from the device.
There is also real-time Log video preview, which is aimed at users who want more control during video production. In addition, dual video recording is included, allowing users to record simultaneously with the front camera and one rear camera.
Those additions make the update feel more substantial than a minor software refresh. They also point to Samsung continuing to refine Galaxy phones for both casual and more serious camera use.
Core features are also being refined
Samsung is not focusing only on headline features. The update also brings improvements to Samsung Health, which remains important for users who track activity and wellness inside the Galaxy ecosystem.
Quick Share is getting updates too, reflecting how often file sharing is used between devices. Battery-saving features are also being improved, alongside broader connectivity and power efficiency optimizations.
