6,000mAh Battery and 90Hz Display Put HMD Vibe 2 5G on Watch Ahead of May 21 Launch

The next affordable 5G handset from HMD is approaching launch, and its biggest selling point is easy to spot. The HMD Vibe 2 5G will debut on 21 May, with a 6,000mAh battery positioned as the feature most likely to draw attention.

That battery size places the device among the more endurance-focused options in its segment. HMD also plans to pair it with 18W charging, so the phone is designed to stay practical for daily use rather than chasing fast-recharge headlines.

Battery life takes the lead

For users who stream content, play light games, or rely on their phone throughout a busy day, the 6,000mAh capacity is the main attraction. In a budget 5G phone, that level of battery support can be a clear differentiator.

The charging spec is modest at 18W, but it fits the phone’s overall positioning. The emphasis appears to be on long-lasting usage first, with charging kept at a reasonable level for the category.

A familiar successor with a new look

HMD Vibe 2 5G follows last year’s first-generation HMD Vibe. That makes this model part of an existing line rather than an entirely new start, while still giving HMD room to refresh the product with a more distinctive appearance.

The rear design has also drawn interest. HMD uses a rectangular camera island with rounded corners, and the look has been described as reminiscent of leaks around the iPhone 17 Pro series.

Camera and display details

The camera setup includes a 50MP main camera with AI support. That combination is aimed at delivering sharper shots that are ready for quick sharing on social platforms.

Up front, the phone is said to support a 90Hz refresh rate. That should help everyday scrolling feel smoother and make the interface feel more responsive during casual gaming or social media use.

Color options and launch plan

HMD has confirmed three color choices for the device: Cosmic Lavender, Nordic Blue, and Peach Pink. The range gives the phone a more varied visual identity, which often matters in the affordable smartphone market.

The official launch will take place in India through Flipkart. HMD has not yet disclosed the chipset or the price, so some of the most important buying details are still being held back until the unveiling.

Even so, the package already points to a clear strategy: a large battery, 90Hz display support, a 50MP AI camera, and a design that aims for a more premium feel within an affordable 5G frame. All of the remaining official details are expected to surface when HMD Vibe 2 5G is introduced on 21 May.
