Xiaomi’s upcoming 17 series is shaping up to be a three-pronged rollout, with each model aimed at a different kind of buyer. The most attention is going to the Xiaomi 17 Max, which stands out for using a Snapdragon chip while also offering the largest display and the biggest battery in the lineup.
According to leaks from Yogesh Brar, the Xiaomi 17T and 17T Pro are set for a global launch on 28 May. The Xiaomi 17 Max is also being discussed for global markets, including India, although its wider release status still appears less certain.
Three models, three different positions
The lineup suggests Xiaomi is not treating this as a single flagship release. Instead, the company seems to be spreading the 17 family across different tiers, from a more accessible model to a Pro version and then a Max variant built around the highest-end hardware.
That approach is visible in the way the specifications are being split. The 17T focuses on a balanced package, the 17T Pro moves higher with a flagship-class chipset and faster display, and the 17 Max pushes the limits on screen size, battery capacity, and camera hardware.
Xiaomi 17T: the more approachable option
Among the three, the Xiaomi 17T is expected to be the most affordable entry point. It is said to carry a 6.59-inch AMOLED panel, a Dimensity 8500 Ultra chipset, a 6,500mAh battery, and a triple rear camera setup.
Leaked pricing places the base 12GB+256GB configuration at EUR749 in France. That price is also said to potentially remain unchanged across the European Union.
Xiaomi 17T Pro: bigger screen, bigger battery
The Xiaomi 17T Pro steps up with a more powerful specification sheet. It is rumored to use the Dimensity 9500, which sits in flagship territory, and pair it with a 6.83-inch display that supports a 144Hz refresh rate.
Its panel is said to be the same one used on the OnePlus 15T, while battery capacity rises to 7,000mAh. Charging support is also expected to be stronger, with 100W wired fast charging listed in the leaks.
Pricing information points to a 12GB+512GB configuration at EUR999. It is not yet clear whether that will be the starting point or whether another lower entry variant exists.
Xiaomi 17 Max: the model drawing the most attention
The Xiaomi 17 Max is the most aggressive member of the trio. It is said to run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, making it the only Snapdragon-powered model in this series.
Xiaomi Phones on Weibo also states that the device will feature a flat 6.9-inch AMOLED 2K display. That makes it the largest screen in the lineup and helps explain why the Max variant is attracting so much interest.
The battery is just as ambitious. The phone is rumored to pack an 8,000mAh cell, with 100W wired fast charging also mentioned, although that detail remains unconfirmed.
Cameras and launch status
Camera hardware is another area where the 17 Max appears to separate itself from the other two models. It is said to include a 200MP Leica main sensor, a periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, and a 50MP ultrawide camera.
Reports also suggest that the Xiaomi 17 Max is already available for pre-order in China. Even so, shipping in its home market is still awaited, which leaves its broader international timing open.
If the 28 May schedule holds, that date will mark an important step for Xiaomi’s international push with the 17T series. The 17T and 17T Pro appear ready for global markets, while the 17 Max remains the model to watch as Xiaomi tests demand beyond China, including in India.
