Jon Stewart Opens The Week, Michael Kosta Takes The Desk Next, The Daily Show Splits Its Spotlight

After an extended Memorial Day break, Comedy Central’s The Daily Show is back with a new stretch of episodes, and the anchor desk will be split this week between Jon Stewart and Michael Kosta. Stewart opens the run on Monday, while Kosta takes over from Tuesday through Thursday.

The lineup brings a mix of entertainment, public health, and publishing guests to the program. It also continues a familiar hosting pattern for the show, with Stewart handling the first night before Kosta carries the rest of the week.

Jon Stewart opens the week with Jason Bateman

Stewart’s Monday episode features actor Jason Bateman, who is promoting two major streaming projects: HBO’s DTF St. Louis and Netflix’s Black Rabbit. The appearance is Bateman’s first on The Daily Show since March 2014, when Stewart was also hosting the program.

That booking gives the week an especially notable start, since Bateman has not appeared on the show in more than a decade. The interview also adds a high-profile entertainment guest to the return from the holiday break.

Michael Kosta returns for a four-day hosting stretch

Michael Kosta, a senior Daily Show correspondent, will host from Tuesday through Thursday. The week marks his fourth hosting stint of the year so far, and his last turn at the desk came during the week of April 20.

Kosta’s run begins with Dr. Thomas Mather on Tuesday. Mather is a University of Rhode Island public health entomology professor and researcher who is also known as “The TickGuy,” a timely guest as tick season gets underway.

On Wednesday, Kosta will speak with Chase Infiniti, who is promoting Hulu’s The Testaments. The week closes Thursday with Beth Stern, a best-selling author and animal advocate, who is appearing to highlight her new children’s book Coco and Stephen, Together Forever.

A new batch of episodes before another break

The show is scheduled to deliver four weeks of fresh episodes this month before taking another one-week break during the week of June 29. That schedule keeps The Daily Show in a steady rotation of hosts and guests as it moves through a busy period of late-night programming.

The Daily Show airs weeknights at 11 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central and streams the next day on Paramount+.
