Bangladesh’s Slow Tracks and Australia’s Big Absences Set Up a Tense ODI Tour

Author: Qoo Media

Australia’s six-match white-ball tour of Bangladesh begins on June 9, and the ODI leg is already shaped by two major storylines: key absences in the visitors’ camp and conditions that heavily favor the home side. The three ODIs will be played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka before the series moves on to Chattogram for the T20Is.

Travis Head is out on personal leave and will also miss the T20I series that follows, while Mitch Marsh remains sidelined with an ankle injury. Their absence opens another chance for Ollie Peake, who has been retained and is expected to gain more international experience during the trip.

Australia’s changing ODI setup

Todd Murphy has been added to the ODI squad and could make his limited-overs debut in Dhaka after replacing Tanveer Sangha, who suffered a hamstring injury in Lahore. Josh Inglis continues as ODI captain, while Matt Short has also been kept on following the Pakistan series.

It is Australia’s first 50-over tour of Bangladesh in 15 years. The last ODI visit came in 2011, when Australia completed a 3-0 sweep, but Bangladesh’s slow home conditions are again expected to make things difficult for the tourists.
