Mega Millions Climbs to $430 Million, and Tuesday’s Numbers Came Up Empty

The Mega Millions jackpot reached $430 million ahead of the Tuesday, June 16 drawing, with a $191.2 million cash option for anyone who matched all six numbers.

The prize had been growing for nearly three months without a winner, following a $60 million jackpot claimed by an Ohio player on St. Patrick’s Day. That long stretch kept the top prize climbing while players waited for the next draw.

Tuesday’s winning numbers

The winning numbers for the June 16 drawing were 12, 20, 53, 67, 70, and the Mega Ball was 12. According to sg.news.yahoo.com, no one won the jackpot or any of the Match 5 prizes.

How Mega Millions works

Players pick five white balls from 1 to 70 and one Mega Ball from 1 to 24. Tickets cost $5 and can be bought at retail locations or, in some states, online, and players can also choose Quick Pick for randomly generated numbers.

All tickets include a built-in multiplier that increases non-jackpot prizes. If someone does hit the jackpot, the winner can take a lump sum or choose annuity payments that rise by 5% each year.

What comes next

The next Mega Millions drawing is scheduled for Friday, June 19, at 11 p.m. ET. Until then, the jackpot will continue to stand as one of the game’s biggest draws for players hoping the next ticket matches all six numbers.
