5 Insider Tips for First-Time Buc-ee’s Visitors in Arizona

Buc-ee’s first Arizona store has already turned a routine gas stop into a destination event in Goodyear. For first-time visitors, the key is knowing what to expect before joining the crowd.

The 74,000-square-foot location opened on June 22 and runs 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It also brings 120 fueling stations, the beaver mascot, and the chain’s reputation for spotless bathrooms and brisket-heavy snacks.

Expect traffic heading in

The store sits near Interstate 10 and Bullard Avenue, and opening-week traffic was expected to be intense. Goodyear provided a travel route, and officers were stationed along it to help manage congestion.

Officials said the route would stay in place as long as traffic control was needed. Drivers were warned to expect slow-moving or standstill traffic at times, especially around the busiest periods.

1. Follow the opening-day route

On opening day, visitors had to exit I-10 at Bullard Avenue, with both eastbound and westbound off-ramps reserved for Buc-ee’s traffic. The 6.5-mile route looped through part of Goodyear and led directly into the parking lot.

When leaving, all traffic was directed to eastbound I-10. Westbound access was not available, so timing the trip and sharing a ride could make the visit easier.

2. Go for the food people talk about

One of the biggest questions around the Arizona opening was whether the food would live up to the hype. www.azcentral.com noted that Arizona Republic columnist Bill Goodykoontz taste-tested several barbecue options, including chopped brisket, Carolina pulled pork, a three-meat sandwich, and beef jerky.

The menu is a major part of Buc-ee’s appeal, and it is one of the easiest ways for a first-time visitor to understand why the chain has such a loyal following.

3. Use the bathrooms while you are there

Buc-ee’s has built a reputation around “the world’s cleanest bathrooms,” and the Goodyear store continues that standard. The restrooms are described as spacious, well maintained, and constantly kept up.

For many visitors, that part of the experience is more than a slogan. It is one of the reasons the chain stands out from typical travel centers and many airport restrooms.

4. Fill up before you leave

The Arizona location includes 120 pumps, which helps keep waits shorter than many drivers expect at a busy opening. Buc-ee’s also tends to price gas near Costco and Sam’s Club levels without requiring a membership.

On opening day, regular gasoline was $3.85 a gallon and diesel was $4.49 a gallon. That makes the fuel stop a practical part of the trip, not just a side errand.

5. Check the Arizona-only merch

No Buc-ee’s visit feels complete without grabbing a souvenir, and the Goodyear store has location-specific items. Among them are Buc-ee’s Arizona T-shirts with Canyon and saguaro imagery.

Themed mugs, plush toys, and other beaver-branded merchandise also remain part of the draw. For first-time visitors, the local-only gear adds one more reason to browse before heading back out.

With traffic controls, a packed travel route, and a mix of food, fuel, and merchandise, the Goodyear store is built to handle a steady stream of curious newcomers. That makes planning ahead the best way to get the full Buc-ee’s experience without the biggest delays.
