Rasul Douglas is set to bring experience and playmaking to Washington on a one-year deal worth up to $3.8 million, according to ESPN‘s Adam Schefter.
The Commanders are getting a cornerback who has spent nine NFL seasons building a reputation as a reliable starter and a ball hawk. Douglas has started 93 games across five teams and has 21 career interceptions.
What Douglas Brings to Washington
Douglas, 30, spent last season with the Miami Dolphins after joining the team following 53-man roster cuts. He played 15 games and eventually moved into the starting lineup after an injury to Storm Duck in Week 1.
| Stat | 2025 With Dolphins | Career |
|---|---|---|
| Games played | 15 | 93 starts in 9 seasons |
| Interceptions | Not listed | 21 |
| Passes defended | 13 | Second-most in a single season of his career |
His season included a two-game absence because of foot and ankle injuries, but he returned in Week 13 and picked off passes in consecutive games. He was also named the AFC’s Defensive Player of the Week after defending five passes and recording an interception against the New York Jets in Week 14.
Douglas was targeted 82 times in 2025 and allowed 54 catches for 515 yards and three touchdowns. He began the season behind Jack Jones and Storm Duck, but by the end of the year he had established himself as Miami’s top cornerback.
For Washington, the move adds a veteran defensive back with a history of production and versatility. ESPN reported that Marcel Louis-Jacques contributed to the report.
