Southern New England is heading back into a hotter and more humid stretch after a comfortable Wednesday. Highs were in the upper 70s and low 80s on Wednesday, close to average for July, before temperatures settle only into the 60s overnight.
The warmer air moves in on Thursday, and the change will be noticeable fast. High temperatures are expected to reach the mid to upper 80s along the coast and the upper 80s to low 90s inland, with humidity pushing the feels-like temperature into the low to mid 90s at times.
Thursday’s Heat Comes With A Small Shower Risk
Most of Thursday should stay dry, but there is still a slim chance of an isolated shower or a stray thunderstorm during the second half of the day. That risk is low, though it is enough to keep an eye on if plans are outdoors.
WHDH says the same hot and humid pattern holds on Friday, with highs again in the upper 80s and low 90s. A cold front moving into Southern New England later in the day could bring a few showers and a storm or two, largely before 9 PM.
The Weekend Looks Much Better
Conditions improve sharply for the weekend, with both Saturday and Sunday staying near or slightly above average. Saturday should bring low to mid 80s inland and 70s along the coast, along with low humidity and only a slight chance of an isolated morning shower.
Sunday looks even more settled, with dry and mostly sunny weather expected across the region. Temperatures should again land in the low to mid 80s inland and in the 70s near the coast, with humidity staying low throughout the day.
The warm-up is expected to return again starting Monday, ending the brief break in summer-like heat.
