Changan Indonesia has started pre-booking for the Deepal S05 and Deepal S05 REEV, and the move stands out because it brings two electrified powertrains to one SUV line at the same time. In Indonesia’s growing EV market, that combination of a Battery Electric Vehicle and a Range Extended Electric Vehicle is still uncommon.
The two versions are aimed at different buyer needs. One runs on pure electric power, while the other uses a 1,500 cc gasoline engine only as a generator to extend driving range.
Early pre-book offers
The pre-book period for the Deepal S05 began on 30 June 2026. Changan is offering the first 500 customers benefits worth up to Rp 20 juta, one year of comprehensive insurance, and a special battery lifetime warranty program price subject to terms and conditions.
Although the official price has not been announced, Changan has indicated that the Deepal S05 will be positioned in the Rp 500 jutaan range. That places the new SUV in a competitive spot as demand for electrified vehicles continues to expand.

REEV is the main difference
The Deepal S05 REEV draws particular attention because it is Changan’s first model in Indonesia with Range Extended Electric Vehicle technology. In this setup, the wheels are driven entirely by the electric motor, while the gasoline engine does not connect directly to the drivetrain.
That concept is meant for drivers who want the feel of an electric car without relying too heavily on charging infrastructure. With a combined range of more than 1,100 kilometers, the REEV version offers more flexibility for long-distance travel.
The Deepal S05 BEV, meanwhile, uses a full electric setup with a 68.8 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate battery. Its electric motor produces up to 200 kW and 290 Nm of torque, with a claimed range of up to 470 kilometers based on NEDC testing.
For the REEV, Changan pairs a 27.28 kWh battery with a 1,500 cc gasoline engine used as a generator. The rear-mounted electric motor delivers up to 160 kW and 320 Nm of torque, while pure electric driving range reaches up to 170 kilometers NEDC.
Futuristic design and premium cabin
Both versions share the same exterior and interior design. Changan applies its Symbiotic Aesthetics philosophy, and the Deepal S05 design has already received the Germany iF Design Award 2025.
From the outside, the SUV looks futuristic with spacecraft-inspired lines, frameless doors, and electric door handles. Its dimensions are 4,620 mm long, 1,900 mm wide, 1,600 mm high, with a 2,880 mm wheelbase.
The rear uses slim LED lights and a diffuser to help aerodynamics. As a result, the Deepal S05 has a drag coefficient of 0.25 Cd, supporting energy efficiency and driving stability.

Inside, the Deepal S05 uses a 15.4-inch touchscreen with 2.5K Ultra Clear resolution as the main control center for vehicle and entertainment functions. It also features a Sunflower Screen that can move up to 15 degrees toward the driver or front passenger for a more ergonomic viewing angle.
Comfort equipment includes heating, ventilation, a leg rest, and a memory seat for the front passenger seat. Changan says both models are built on the Changan EPA1 All Electric Digital Platform, designed for efficiency, safety, and optimal performance.
Both variants use Rear Wheel Drive with balanced weight distribution and independent suspension at all corners. With that package, the Deepal S05 enters Indonesia as an electrified SUV that combines striking design with two distinct technologies for different driving needs.
