Laura Stylez Explains Why ‘Ebro in the Morning’ Ceased Broadcasting from Hot 97 Studio

Laura Stylez recently addressed why she and her co-hosts on Ebro in the Morning stopped broadcasting from Hot 97’s studio. A fan claimed the trio was "mailing it in" by doing the show virtually in recent years. Stylez refuted this by stating the show remained live despite the remote setup.

She cited poor studio conditions as the reason for their move. Stylez revealed, "We just didn’t want to go into a studio with roaches and homeless people sleeping in the hallways." This reflects her concern for safety and professionalism amidst difficult circumstances.

The New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development reported no complaints or violations at Hot 97’s building over the past two years. Nevertheless, the Bowery Residents’ Committee’s Jack Ryan Residence, a transitional housing shelter, is located just a block away from the studio. This proximity may have influenced the hosts’ decision to broadcast remotely.

The show’s cancellation was confirmed when Ebro tweeted, "It’s done. More to come. #EbroInTheMorning." He later suggested in an Instagram Live that his progressive views may have contributed to the show’s end. Ebro commented, “They need my shit-talking anti‑Netanyahu, anti‑government, progressive shit out the way, bro. They need me out the way.”

After the announcement, Stylez expressed gratitude and optimism on Instagram. She said, “We had the best time… the most beautiful listeners and got to work with legends I love.” She emphasized ongoing friendship and future plans with her co-hosts Ebro and Rosenberg.

Over the weekend, the trio launched a new project titled The Ebro Laura Rosenberg Show on YouTube. This move highlights their commitment to continue engaging with their audience outside traditional radio channels.

Ebro in the Morning originally launched in 2012, marking Ebro Darden’s return to the morning slot at Hot 97. Besides radio, Darden serves as Global Editorial Head of Hip-Hop and R&B at Apple Music, hosting other programs such as The Ebro Show and Rap Life Radio.
